Summary:

Responsible for deploying and managing Riverbed platforms to analyze network traffic, monitor application response times, and optimize WAN performance, enabling improved application delivery and operational efficiency across enterprise networks.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Strong experience in designing and implementing Riverbed monitoring and optimization solutions.
Expertise in packet-level traffic analysis and network flow monitoring.
Ability to analyze application performance issues and network bottlenecks using Riverbed platforms.
Experience integrating Riverbed tools with enterprise monitoring and ITSM platforms.
Ability to collaborate with network, application, and infrastructure teams to resolve performance issues.
Working knowledge of packet capture tools and debugging network packet flow.
Experience with any of the following: QoS, Netflow, NAT, SSL, HTTP, CIFS, MAPI, SMB, NFS, VLAN, general routing/switching protocols, Firewall.
A: Design, deploy, configure, and maintain monitoring solutions using Riverbed AppResponse.
B: Implement and manage flow monitoring solutions using Riverbed NetProfiler to analyze bandwidth usage and traffic patterns.
C: Deploy and administer WAN optimization appliances such as Riverbed SteelHead.
D: Monitor application performance and troubleshoot latency issues across data center, WAN, and hybrid cloud environments.
E: Build dashboards and reports to provide network visibility and performance insights for critical applications.
F: Work with infrastructure teams to configure SPAN, TAP, and traffic mirroring sources for packet monitoring.
G: Integrate Riverbed monitoring alerts with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.


Professional & Technical Skills:

A: Experience deploying and managing Riverbed monitoring architecture including AppResponse, NetProfiler, and SteelHead platforms.
B: Strong understanding of packet analysis and flow monitoring technologies (NetFlow, sFlow, IPFIX).
C: Experience analyzing network latency, retransmissions, bandwidth utilization, and application response times.
D: Experience working with packet capture infrastructure such as SPAN ports, TAPs, and network packet brokers.
E: Strong understanding of networking protocols including:
TCP/IP
HTTP / HTTPS
DNS
SNMP
SIP / RTP
SSL/TLS
F: Experience troubleshooting enterprise applications such as:
Web applications
SaaS platforms
VoIP services
Database traffic
Professional Attributes
A: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
B: Ability to collaborate with network, application, and infrastructure teams.
C: Strong communication and documentation skills.
D: Ability to create operational documentation, monitoring strategies, and troubleshooting procedures.
