Overview

The Startup Technical Consultant role is to support startups in building well architected products on Azure including innovations with AI services. Startup Tech Specialists are expected to be evangelists of the Startup Program and provide best in class experience and guidance on building with Microsoft. They are expected to work within a virtual team of technical, partner and consulting resources to help educate startups through technical demonstration and consultation.

Responsibilities

Work with startups in one-to-one consultations to build AI solutions:

  • Be a trusted technical advisor to startups, helping them build and publish well architected products.

  • Lead technology decision conversations with startups, ensuring that technical decisions are aligned with envisioned solution and business value.

  • Provide guidance on architecture, tech stack choices, deployment, service usage & best practices.

  • Identify and help solve technical, architectural, and competitive blockers.

  • Helps coordinating & prioritizing startup coverage in alignment with the Microsoft for Startups program stakeholders.

  • Liaise with the startup advisor on request priority and knowledge transfer.

  • Documenting project statuses and client interactions in the CRM as well as pointing out inefficiencies and missing features internally.

Serve as an advocate for the startup program and as the voice of startups with product groups, marketing, engineering & other technology groups:

  • Evangelize the startup program and the value of the Microsoft marketplace including in one-to-many client interactions such as office hours.

  • Contribute to the creation of material in different formats, written, video, audio to provide additional guidance for startups.

  • Closely work with the startup advisor team with a focus on continuously improving customer experience

  • Engage with stakeholders to discuss improvements, feedback, and communicate what you have learned.

Job Qualifications

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong experience within technical architecture, technical consulting, design, and implementation, and/or technical sales experience

  • OR relevant certifications from Microsoft or competitive platforms AND extensive technical architect, technical consulting, design, and implementation, and/or technical sales experience

  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), Engineering, or related field AND strong technical architect, technical consulting, design and implementation, and/or technical sales experience

  • OR equivalent experience

Azure

Deep understanding of:

  • Experience working with Azure or similar solutions preferred.

  • Microsoft Well Architected Framework.

  • Understanding of Cloud Platforms and the ability to engage with startup technical leadership as a trusted adviser. Requires the ability to articulate and present the business value of Microsoft’s Apps & Infra and/or Data & AI related cloud solutions and have firm understanding of Microsoft’s Cloud relative to major competitors.

Certification

Startup Technical Specialists to attain the appropriate certifications listed below, applicable to their area of expertise, within 3 months of hire date (“Deadline”):

  • Azure Core

    • Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)

    • Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)

    • Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204)

  • AI

    • Azure AI Fundamentals (AI-900)

    • AI Engineer Associate (AI-102)

    • Undertake any required upskilling around AI application development and deployment, including foundational exams and assessment based learnings on Microsoft Learn

  • Data

    • Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900)

    • Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300)

  • Security

    • Security, Compliance and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900)

    • Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500)

  • +1 specialization in one of the key areas; Data & Analytics, Infrastructure & Security, per STARTUP Technical Specialist, within 6 months of hire date (“Deadline”)

What we expect:

  • 1+ years of experience in sales or lead generation, preferably within Azure Cloud or similar technologies

  • Proven track record in inside sales and consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets

  • Strong understanding of sales processes, including renewals (upcoming, late, and contract-based)

  • Ability to identify customer needs, build relationships, and position value-driven solutions

  • Experience working with CRM tools (e.g. Salesforce) and strong proficiency in MS Office

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

  • Fluent in English and Arabic (minimum C1 level)

  • Strong phone presence and ability to manage high-volume outreach activities

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to adapt quickly in a dynamic environment

  • Strong interest in sales, technology, and supporting customer growth

Preferred skills:

  • Experience in the software industry, such as IT systems, infrastructure, application development, security, or analytics

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Cloud services and products; Microsoft licensing knowledge is a strong advantage

  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales and activity targets

  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Ability to proactively communicate with clients and identify opportunities to improve their use.
