THE WORK:
- You'll lead, supervise, and assign daily work to a team of estimators.
- You'll plan, prepare, and oversee construction cost estimates for buildings and other facilities based on drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- You'll prepare and review cost estimates and supporting documentation used to secure state and federal school construction grants and loans.
- You'll review and validate construction cost estimates submitted by architects and engineers, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with District estimates.
- You'll collaborate and negotiate with architects and engineers to resolve estimate discrepancies and establish agreed-upon project budgets.
- You'll analyze significant bid variances and prepare reports explaining differences between contractor bids and estimated costs.
- You'll review contractor cost breakdowns and recommend acceptance or rejection for progress payment purposes.
- You'll evaluate change orders, determine the validity of proposed extras or credits, and approve or reject submissions accordingly.
- You'll establish and maintain procedures for project approvals, plan reviews, specifications, and public bidding processes.
- You'll develop and maintain cost-tracking systems, records, reports, charts, and data comparing estimated versus actual construction costs.
- You'll conduct workshops and training sessions for staff and contractors on construction bidding, contracts, and cost-estimating practices.
- You'll establish project budgets, estimate property damage costs, support related departmental functions, and prepare independent cost estimates to strengthen negotiation positions.
- You'll provide pricing and claims support by preparing change order estimates, conducting claim analyses, reviewing contractor claims and proposals, and assisting in contract negotiations.
- Onsite at client site: The work location for this role is onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery and cultivate our client relationships.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Combined Qualifications: Candidates who meet one of the two sets of combined qualifications
below will be considered for this position. - A) Fourteen (14) years full-time paid professional experience in the preparation of
complete cost estimates for major/complex type I, II, or III, and V building
construction as defined by the State building codes AND - B) Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in
architecture, engineering or construction management AND - C) Three (3) years of full-time paid experience in supervising estimators AND
- D) Must have worked for a construction cost consulting firm for at least five (5) years
- OR
- A) Twenty (20) or more years solid full-time paid professional experience in the
preparation of complete cost estimates for major/complex type I, II, or III, and V
building construction as defined by the State building codes AND - B) Degree not required AND
- C) Five (5) years of full-time paid experience in supervising estimators AND
- D) Must have worked for a construction cost consulting firm for at least five (5) years

Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Accenture provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Virginia or Washington as set forth below.
