About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and business-driven Finance Business Partner (R&D) with a strong focus on financial project management and controlling. This role will partner closely with R&D, engineering, and product teams to ensure effective planning, tracking, and governance of R&D projects.

You will play a key role in improving transparency over project performance, driving budget discipline, and enabling data-driven decisions across a portfolio of innovation initiatives in a fast-growing robotics environment.

Your Responsibilities

  • Act as the finance lead for R&D project controlling, ensuring robust financial oversight across multiple projects

  • Partner with R&D and engineering teams to manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation

  • Establish and maintain project-level financial tracking, including budget vs. actual analysis and variance explanations

  • Drive financial governance of R&D projects, ensuring adherence to budgets, milestones, and approval processes

  • Support project planning, forecasting, and rolling updates across the R&D portfolio

  • Provide visibility into project performance, cost drivers, and risks, and proactively recommend corrective actions

  • Evaluate ROI and business cases for R&D initiatives and new product development

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve project costing methodologies and reporting frameworks

  • Drive continuous improvement in tools, processes, and data quality related to R&D financial management

  • Own and drive monthly R&D project reporting, delivering consolidated insights on project progress, budget utilization, key risks, and financial performance across the project portfolio

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field

  • 3–5 years of experience in Finance BP, FP&A, project controlling, or related roles

  • Proven experience in project-based financial management or controlling, preferably in R&D or engineering environments

  • Strong understanding of project budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

  • Excellent analytical skills with advanced Excel capabilities; experience with ERP or project management tools is a plus

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical teams

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Proactive mindset with strong problem-solving abilities

  • Fluent in English

Beneficial Skills

  • Experience in robotics, automation, or high-tech industries

  • Familiarity with R&D project lifecycle management and stage-gate processes

  • Experience with project portfolio management (PPM) tools

  • Knowledge of R&D capitalization (IFRS/GAAP)
