About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and business-driven Finance Business Partner (R&D) with a strong focus on financial project management and controlling. This role will partner closely with R&D, engineering, and product teams to ensure effective planning, tracking, and governance of R&D projects.
You will play a key role in improving transparency over project performance, driving budget discipline, and enabling data-driven decisions across a portfolio of innovation initiatives in a fast-growing robotics environment.
Your Responsibilities
Act as the finance lead for R&D project controlling, ensuring robust financial oversight across multiple projects
Partner with R&D and engineering teams to manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation
Establish and maintain project-level financial tracking, including budget vs. actual analysis and variance explanations
Drive financial governance of R&D projects, ensuring adherence to budgets, milestones, and approval processes
Support project planning, forecasting, and rolling updates across the R&D portfolio
Provide visibility into project performance, cost drivers, and risks, and proactively recommend corrective actions
Evaluate ROI and business cases for R&D initiatives and new product development
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve project costing methodologies and reporting frameworks
Drive continuous improvement in tools, processes, and data quality related to R&D financial management
Own and drive monthly R&D project reporting, delivering consolidated insights on project progress, budget utilization, key risks, and financial performance across the project portfolio
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree or above in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
3–5 years of experience in Finance BP, FP&A, project controlling, or related roles
Proven experience in project-based financial management or controlling, preferably in R&D or engineering environments
Strong understanding of project budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Excellent analytical skills with advanced Excel capabilities; experience with ERP or project management tools is a plus
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical teams
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Proactive mindset with strong problem-solving abilities
Fluent in English
Beneficial Skills
Experience in robotics, automation, or high-tech industries
Familiarity with R&D project lifecycle management and stage-gate processes
Experience with project portfolio management (PPM) tools
Knowledge of R&D capitalization (IFRS/GAAP)
