Within the Digital function, the Governance and Transformation department plays a key transversal role in enabling the Digital Transformation, from FRAMING - expressing strategic intentions and defining simple, flexible and scalable frames - to SUPPORTING Domains and PSL’s while ensuring alignment between functions and divisions - to REPORTING through consolidated views, highlighting hotspots and relevant needs for support & decision-making.
In India, the Digital Strategy, Governance & Transformation team plays a key transversal role promoting synergies between multiple domains across Airbus worldwide with a flexible and adaptable approach which helps in sharing best practices, architecture, innovation, operational excellence and being efficient with cost, quality and time.
A technical lead at Airbus acts as the technical representative of the product, overseeing its entire technical path. In this context, the Technical Lead will join the Enterprise Architecture PSL responsible for Process, Methods, Tools, and Data (PMTD) at Airbus. The lead will own the technical solution specific to the Enterprise Architecture Modeling Platform, guide the team, ensure architectural compliance, and drive the future direction and evolution of the platform.
Primary Responsibilities:
Technical & Architectural Leadership: Define the technical vision, architecture, and low-level design standards for the EA Modeling platform, encompassing Sparx EA, ARIS, and Hopex.
Team Leadership & Mentoring: Lead, mentor, and guide a small, multi-disciplinary team of developers to ensure end-to-end product delivery, code quality, and adherence to IT software standards.
Modeling Governance & Standardization: Own the implementation and enforcement of the company's Enterprise Metamodel and modeling consistency across all EA tools, leveraging team's expertise in VB/JavaScript scripting and MDG (Model Driven Generation).
Database & Integration Strategy: Define the strategy for managing the underlying modeling databases (DBMS) and ensuring robust integration between various EA applications, services, and the wider IT landscape.
DevOps & Automation: Own the CI/CD pipeline (Jenkins, Terraform) strategy to enable fully automated, highly available, and scalable deployments across all environments (Dev, QA, Production).
Operational Excellence: Lead and support the team in ensuring the operational availability of the applications, taking ownership of major incidents, problems, and changes.
Stakeholder & Agile Support: Provide expert technical advice to the Product Manager, Product Architect and support the Scrum Master with all necessary ceremonies and deliverables.
Establish a comprehensive observability stack (logs, metrics, traces) to proactively identify performance degradation and operational issues before they impact users.
Process Improvement: Lead post-incident reviews to identify systemic issues and drive continuous improvement in operational processes and software reliability.
Qualification & Experience:
Required:
Bachelor/Master Degree in a relevant technical field with 10+ years of software experience, including at least 5+ years in a hands-on Tech Lead role.
Expertise in EA Tooling & Customization: Deep working experience with two or more major EA modeling tools (Sparx EA, ARIS, Hopex, BizzDesign) and demonstrable expertise in the associated scripting languages (VB/JavaScript/Node).
Leadership at Scale: Must have experience in leading a high-performing team (of at least 5) under direct supervision, following agile methodologies at scale (SAFe/Scrum).
Strong technical background in SQL-based DBMS and managing data integrity.
Thorough working experience with the DevOps stack (Containerization, Jenkins, Terraform).
Strong background in test strategy, test plan creation, and quality assurance.
Proven ability in strong project and stakeholder management.
Thorough understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management) and how they integrate with modern DevOps practices.
Desired:
Experience in defining application design and Enterprise Architecture (EA) frameworks (e.g., TOGAF).
Working knowledge of model versioning and configuration management tools (CMBD, ServiceNow, Alfabet).
Exposure to Foundry tools and technologies, Custom data pipeline design using Python and PySpark.
Technical certifications in cloud, architecture, or DevOps.
Success Metrics:
Success will be measured in a variety of areas, including but not limited to:
Successful technical delivery and adoption of standardized modeling practices.
High operational availability and reliability of the EA platform, measured against defined SLOs.
Team performance, productivity, and successful mentorship of junior developers.
Customer satisfaction with platform stability, feature delivery, and technical competency.
