Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Quality Engineering Landing Gear and Fuel department in Filton for a Senior Quality Engineer (SQE), the mission is to plan, contribute and steer the quality engineering optimization of Landing Gear, Fuel and Inerting.

The team was established in 2015 with the mission to drive the achievement of engineering quality for Landing Gear, Fuel, and Inerting across the lifecycle, for all programmes, in partnership with other stakeholders and this role will be pivatol in this team.

How you will contribute to the Team

  • Manage, autonomously, the allocated activities across the lifecycle (e.g. from Concept to In-Service) and deliver

  • Facilitate Practical Problem Solving (PPS); for example, in the case of a Corrective Change Request (CR)

  • Analyze Non-Compliances/Conformances, review and validate Technical Risk Assessment (TRA)

  • Facilitate Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis

  • Deliver validation and verification (V&V) quality checks

  • Support Process Assurance Review (PAR) and Design Review

  • Develop and deliver PAR Report (i.e. Author) and relevant quality performance data

  • Capture and share best practices and lessons learnt with Programme Quality, Procurement Quality, etc.

  • Contribute to Definition Dossier, review and validate Accomplishment Summaries-Leadership; such as Interact & Influence

  • Systems Engineering; specifically V&V for ATA32, ATA28 and ATA47 (incl. Tools, such as DOORS)

  • Design Right First Time; such as PPS, APQP and DFMEA

  • Auditing/Surveillance ; focusing mainly on assurance of DE.SO.01.01 and DE.SO.02.01 processes

About you

  • Experience and Background: Extensive professional experience, ideally from an aviation or military background, with focus on complex systems integration (e.g., submarines or military hardware).

  • Multi-Skilled Quality Expertise: A multi-skilled background combining process assurance, validation and verification (V&V/VMV), and classic quality standards.

  • Systems Engineering Proficiency: Specific experience in Validation and Verification (V&V) for ATA32 (Landing Gear), ATA28 (Fuel), and ATA47 (Inerting) systems, including familiarity with tools such as DOORS.

  • Design Right First Time Tools: Core competency in "Design Right First Time" methodologies, including proven ability to facilitate Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), apply Practical Problem Solving (PPS), and deliver APQP KBD Assessments.

  • Quality Process Assurance: Experience with Auditing/Surveillance, focusing mainly on the assurance of DE.SO.01.01 and DE.SO.02.01 processes.

  • Risk and Non-Compliance Management: Capability to analyze Non-Compliances/Conformances, and review and validate Technical Risk Assessments (TRA) and Development Plans

  • Leadership and Data Skills: Demonstrated Leadership, such as the ability to Interact & Influence, along with experience in aspects of Data Science, including Data Visualization and Communications.
