The role

- Ensure global design consistency for all AZ Trade APIs, by animating the API governance team in defining and controlling the application of API design principles that are agreed upon with the global API developer and PO community within Allianz Trade.
- Provide coaching and advice to the development teams, with the objective to create a maximum of autonomy while avoiding any deviation from the defined standards.
- Select and maintain appropriate tooling that drives such autonomy and control.

Mission

- Prioritize the backllog of necessary evolutions of the API governance scope, rules and workflows, follow-up on execution
- Take ownership of the Global API design guide and the global API catalogue.
- Collaborate proactively with the transversal IT teams (Architecture, Cloud foundation, Development, Security, etc) on creating and maintaining effective workflows.
- Review the API designs critically from a business standpoint (consistency of object namings, avoidance of jargon and technical artefacts, pertinence of data sources, uniqueness of data objects etc)
- Validate OpenAPI specifications, comment where adjustments are required and help to control that implementation is aligned with the swagger definition.
- Validate the security-related aspects of API design
- Collaborate proactively with the Data Governance experts to continuously improve and harmonize the necessary workflows between both worlds (Data modeling and API design)
- Drive the documentation of Business Needs, Epics, User stories and Test plans.
- Elaborate and consistenly track a set of KPIs that permit an overall monitoring of API maturity within AZ Trade.
- Maintain a high level of relationship with all the API Product owners
- Proactively make sure to stay aware of the roadmap of the major AZ Trade programs (AZ Trade Online, QIRIN, Surety, DH & Compass)

Main Tasks

- Validate Open API specs within Gitlab, block delivery where quality is not met.
- Continuous improvement of the AZ Trade API design guide, in alignment with the architecture team, the Product Owners and IT dev community
- Train and Coach product Owners on the API design requirements
- Continuous improvement on the validation toolchain, with focus on automation and Self-Service for the PO and dev community
- Monitor and report on the overall API maturity
- Support the POs and teams in understanding the business drivers, facilitating the business driven decisions.

Requirements

- Strongly business-oriented mindset but capable to deal with significant technical complexities
- Proven experience in a lead role, demonstrating a professional and confident approach to working relationships both within and outside the team
- Substantial expertise with REST API and OpenAPI 3 / JSON concepts and designs. Proven ability to challenge even senior developers and Product Owners, who might otherwise tempt to argument for an exceedingly high amount of design exceptions.
- Be passionate about data modeling and APIs as a means of business optimization and process transformation
- Ability to understand client needs and market trends through client interaction and other market research
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Evangelize your product internally through presentations, demos and development of relevant collateral (e.g. online demos, promotions, white papers, case studies, workshops, etc...)
- High level of reactivity
- Maintain a good knowledge of the API state of the art
Preferred:
- Basis knowledges of AWS, a development langage like nodeJS & an API testing tool like Postman would be appreciated
