To strengthen our Digital Investment Management Cluster team, we are looking for an experienced Backend Developer (m/f/d) with expertise in DevSecOps to build and enhance our secure, scalable pre-sales, onboarding and after-sales web applications and the associated underlying services.
The position offers the opportunity to play a vital role in the optimization, harmonization and further global build-out of our Digital Investment Management service offering.
In addition to becoming part of a product team and reporting to the Engineering Chapter Lead in this role, you will join an open-minded, business and tech combining team committed to make “simplicity at scale” happen. We are working in a product-based setup with an agile delivery method.
In this cross-functional Digital Investment Management team we are passionate about putting AllianzGI’s unique knowledge to our distribution partners with the means of state-of-the-art technology (e.g. cloud-based services).
This role is based in Frankfurt or Munich, Germany
What you will do
• Design, develop, optimize and document high-performance backend services and APIs for wealth management solutions
• Implement secure coding practices and ensure compliance with financial security regulations (e.g. MiFID, WpHG, BaFin)
• Ensure that software design balances functional, quality, security and system requirements
• Work closely with investment professionals, solution architects, DevSecOps and other technology teams to understand business problems and produce scalable solutions to support business growth
• Apply software design methods, tools, and techniques. Undertake impact analysis on design options, make recommendations and assess associated risks
• Improve our CI-CD pipelines, such as optimizing the build times of our Docker images on GitHub Actions
• Improve the scalability of our applications, for instance the auto-scaling of our deployments in Kubernetes and resolve performance bottlenecks
• Strengthen the logging, monitoring and alerting, for example by improving our Datadog sensors, monitors and dashboards, to ensure system health and proactive issue resolution
What you bring
• 7+ years of professional experience in application development, ideally with Java, Python and Angular skills are a plus
• Proven expertise in API development (e.g. REST) and event-driven architecture (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ)
• Extensive experience with authentication and authorization frameworks (OAuth2.0, OpenID Connect, Keycloak, Azure AD)
• Skilled in building cloud-native applications using Docker and Kubernetes, with hands-on experience in automating deployments to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) via CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps); familiarity with Helm is a plus
• Experienced in agile software development and test automation, using modern Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) practices and tools such as Jira, GitHub, and Azure DevOps
• Previous experience with microservice architecture for rapid prototyping and building high-quality, resilient solutions
• Experience with financial regulations – especially with MiFID II and WpHG – and their impact on application design and data handling in digital products; knowledge of statistics / econometrics is a plus
• Degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or a related STEM field
• Passion for continuous learning and exploring new technologies
• Strong problem-solving skills, ownership mindset, and a passion for building secure and scalable financial applications
• Empathetic team player who is flexible, proactive, self-reliant, and forward thinking
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken is required
