About the Job

As part of the Allianz Technology Data Office, we are looking for a dynamic Data Engineer to play a pivotal role in our data journey by providing hands-on support to design and deliver reliable data solutions that support business critical processes that harness the full value of its robust and dynamic data landscape.

What you do

• Create and build data ingestion pipelines using Azure Synapse Pipelines, Azure Functions and Synapse Notebooks as well as developing script in Python or PySpark for automation.
• Extract data from diverse sources including APIs, databases, flat files and other cloud or on-premise systems.
• Maintain and optimize Synapse Dedicated SQL Pools for data storage and analytical queries.
• Manage code using Git for source control and CI/CD, ensuring consistent and governed deployment of pipelines and artifacts across environments.
• Automate failure handling, alerts and retries to minimize operational overhead and provide technical troubleshooting, issue resolution and continuous support for data delivery pipelines.
• Collaborate with different stakeholders to ensure that data meets business needs and is delivered on time. Engage with leadership and functional leads to ensure alignment and support.
• Ensure adherence to security, privacy and development guidelines whilst also documenting processes and data flows for transparency and knowledge sharing.
• Identify opportunities for standardization and automate data maintenance processes and foster a data-driven culture and advocate for the benefits of data management.

What you bring

• 8+ years of experience in Azure Synapse Analytics (pipelines, notebooks, SQL pools) with Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (architecture, management, security) and Python & PySpark (data processing, automation) proficiency.
• Development of ETL/ELT workflows using modern orchestration tools and T-SQL (complex queries, procedures).
• RESTful API design & integration
• Azure Functions & Logic Apps (event-driven/serverless).
• Azure RBAC, Managed Identities, Key Vault.
• Monitoring & alerting (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics).
• Familiarity with ServiceNow APIs is an added advantage.
• Experience in CI/CD and GitHub Actions, PowerShell, YAML Azure CLI or Databricks are a plus.
• Basic knowledge of AI technologies, principles and their practical use.
