We are looking for an Alternative Risk Transfer Business Development and Underwriting, APAC, based in Singapore.

In ART at Allianz Commercial, we are committed to creating innovative tailored insurance, reinsurance and other non-traditional risk management solutions for a range of corporate and financial clients globally. We specialize in helping clients mitigate their most complex risks with custom multiyear and/or multi-line structures covering a broad range of risks, leveraging our expertise in alternative risk transfer and the global capabilities of the Allianz Group.
The Impact You Will Have
Reporting ART Global/Regional Team, you will lead a coordinated regional go‑to‑market strategy and underwriting approach, actively cultivate and strengthen key external relationships, and foster robust internal partnerships to drive business growth and collaboration.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
With support from the ART Global and Regional Teams, local Underwriters, and APAC Regional Distribution teams, you will define strategic focus areas for ART business development across the APAC region to drive targeted and profitable growth.
- You will identify market opportunities and develop effective engagement strategies with brokers, local Allianz OEs, and clients to strengthen ART’s market presence.
- You will nurture and maintain strong relationships with key brokers, clients, and other critical stakeholders, ensuring high‑quality engagement and a strong external representation of Allianz Commercial’s full LoB offering.
- You will further refine the ART APAC go‑to‑market approach and ensure sustainable, profitable ART growth across the region ensuring AZ ART is continually visible in the market alongside ART Business Development Head, and Regional Distribution
- Be an integral part of key deal teams within the region to promote ART knowledge to key managed clients or during RFPs.
- Provide ongoing education of both internal and external stakeholder on ART and how clients can be identified and supported with solutions.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
- Minimum 7 to 10 years of experience in an Underwriting or Business Development role within industrial / specialty insurance business; ability to implement tools and methodologies to develop market, competitor, and client insight, drive cross‑LoB collaboration, assess competitive landscapes, and generate meaningful client insights.
- Strong networking capabilities, with demonstrated experience in building and maintaining long‑term, profitable relationships at senior levels within both broker and client organizations.
- Underwriting Expertise: ability to triage, assess, understanding of complex risks, with capability in designing insurance solutions. Experience with structured products, unbundled fronting, and their practical application.
- Significant experience operating within a complex, global matrix organization, demonstrating agility, collaboration, and effective stakeholder management.
- Strong Communication & Influence: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate clear, compelling messages and deliver persuasive narratives to diverse audiences. Demonstrated ability to motivate, influence, and drive action.
- APAC Market Knowledge: Experience working in the Asia Pacific region, strong familiarity with its specificities, including territorial regulatory requirements, market dynamics, client needs, and emerging opportunities.
- Analytical Capability: Ability to interpret and analyze complex data from multiple sources, identify key issues, and proactively address potential risks or challenges.
- Language Skills: Fluent in English.
- Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision-making is highly beneficial.
