About the Job
We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to join our Task Management & Routing (TMR) team and help us build scalable, robust and future‑ready backend services.
In this role, you will work on our Task Manager service, a core component providing end‑to‑end task management capabilities across different platforms. You’ll be involved in designing, developing and operating backend solutions based on modern Java technologies, event‑driven architectures, and cloud‑native principles, while collaborating in an international and agile environment.
What you do
- Design, develop and maintain backend services using Java (17+) and Spring Boot 3.
- Build high‑quality REST APIs and contribute to event‑driven architectures using Kafka.
- Work with MongoDB to design efficient and scalable data models.
- Contribute to microservices architectures, focusing on performance, resiliency and maintainability.
- Support deployment and runtime operations in Kubernetes‑based environments.
- Collaborate closely with product owners, frontend developers, QA and DevOps teams.
- Ensure code quality and reliability through reviews, testing and documentation.
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement, best practices and technical discussions within the team.
What you bring
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in backend application development and maintenance, with strong expertise in Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3 (advanced concepts, clean code, best practices).
- Proven experience designing, building and maintaining RESTful APIs with Spring Boot (performance, scalability and maintainability).
- Hands-on experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures, including Spring Boot integration and messaging patterns.
- Solid experience with MongoDB / NoSQL (data modeling and performance-oriented querying).
- Good understanding of microservices and distributed systems, with an interest in sound architecture and decoupled designs (e.g., design patterns, DDD, hexagonal architecture).
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and cloud-native deployments; experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Workflows/pipelines) is a plus.
- Quality mindset: experience with JUnit, test coverage and code quality tooling (e.g., SonarQube); exposure to test automation tools is a plus.
- Strong communication skills in English, proactive problem-solving attitude, and experience working effectively in Agile/Scrum teams using tools such as Git, GitHub, JIRA and Confluence.
What we offer
- We offer a hybrid work model which recognizes the value of striking a balance between in-person collaboration and remote working incl. up to 25 days per year working from abroad.
- We believe in rewarding performance and our compensation and benefits package includes a company bonus scheme, pension, employee shares program and multiple employee discounts (details vary by location).
- From career development and digital learning programs to international career mobility, we offer lifelong learning for our employees worldwide and an environment where innovation, delivery and empowerment are fostered.
- Flexible working, health and wellbeing offers (including healthcare and parental leave benefits) support to balance family and career and help our people return from career breaks with experience that nothing else can teach.
