As a Data Engineer/Analyst (f/m/d), you will support AllianzGI’s Equity investment teams by delivering high quality data engineering, analysis, and reporting capabilities. The role blends data engineering, investment focused analytics, and dashboarding, enabling the integration of quantitative research with fundamental investment processes.

You will operate at the intersection of Investments and Technology, working closely with portfolio managers, fundamental analysts, the Active Engineer, and data & platform teams. Your work ensures that Equity teams have trusted, timely data and intuitive analytical tools that support decision making.

Although exposure to GenAI/ML is beneficial, the core strengths of this role are data pipelines, investment datasets, analytical modelling, and dashboard development.

This position will be preferably based in Frankfurt or Munich, but applications from other locations are also welcome.

What you will do

Investment Data Engineering & Integration

  • Design, build, and robust data pipelines for market, reference, fundamental, and quantitative data sources
  • Develop ETL/ELT processes across structured and unstructured datasets, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and performance
  • Engineer and manage data models and schemas that support equity research, portfolio analysis, and quant–fundamental integration workflows
  • Contribute to the consolidation of datasets enabling the quantamental signals to be consumed by fundamental investment teams
  • Support the evolution of a unified investment data foundation across Investments

Collaboration with Investment Teams

  • Partner closely with the Active Engineer to operationalize quantitative signals, analytics, and research tools for fundamental PMs
  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of reporting: requirements gathering, data sourcing, modelling, dashboard design, rollout, and iterative enhancement
  • Translate complex datasets into clear, visual insights that support portfolio managers, analysts, and senior stakeholders
  • Ensure investment teams have timely, reliable data access for research, monitoring, and reporting

Data Quality, Reliability & Governance

  • Implement and maintain data quality checks, validation rules, and monitoring dashboards
  • Manage BAU activities such as pipeline monitoring, issue resolution, and performance optimization
  • Contribute to data governance standards across the data domain

Analytics Enablement & Insights

  • Build analytical datasets and curated layers enabling self-service analytics and cross asset research
  • Support exploratory analysis, prototyping, and data investigation requested by the investment teams
  • Prepare datasets that allow PMs to compare quant signals with fundamental insights and incorporate them into the investment process

Technology & Continuous Improvement

  • Use AllianzGI’s data technology stack (e.g., Databricks, Azure Data Lake, SQL Server) to deliver scalable pipelines and analytical solutions
  • Explore new tools and methods that improve ingestion, modelling, and analytical capabilities across Equity
  • Contribute to the long-term integration of research, analytics, and investment datasets

What you bring

  • University degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Finance or related fields
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in data and software engineering
  • Ideally industry experience in finance/investment management
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with agile teams
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Cloud expertise (Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL Server)
  • Experience with Agile development using tools such as GitHub, JFrog, Jira, Datadog
  • Experience designing and maintaining data models and schemas for analytical or investment use cases
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels, coupled with excellent English communication both written and spoken
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail
  • Collaborative working style across technical and business teams with a strong customer-service focus
  • Understanding of, and interest in learning fundamental notions of financial markets and investment management including related data requirements
  • Proactive, self-driven, and comfortable owning workflows end-to-end
