We are looking for an Underwriter for Financial Lines, based in Vienna.

Our Financial Lines underwriting team handles risk analysis and assessment, drafts contract terms, prepares offers, and implements insurance solutions for internationally active corporate and industrial companies. Our products focus in particular on D&O manager liability insurance. We work in constant, direct contact with our clients and their advisors. The Impact You Will Have

As an Underwriter of Financial Lines, you will play a key role in expanding Allianz Commercial's Financial Lines business in Austria, with a primary focus on Directors & Officers (D&O) insurance. You will develop and implement underwriting strategies that ensure profitable growth and high-quality service delivery. By analysing risks, crafting tailored solutions, and fostering strong client and broker relationships, you will contribute to our market leadership in the Central Europe Region. Your expertise will directly shape the future of our Financial Lines portfolio in a dynamic and rewarding environment.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

• Underwrite new and renewal Financial Lines business, including D&O, with a focus on profitability and adherence to underwriting guidelines.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to secure competitive and profitable deals with clients and brokers.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and brokers, providing excellent service and acting as a trusted point of contact.
• Ensure accurate and timely policy documentation and file maintenance.
• Conduct risk assessments and make informed underwriting decisions based on thorough analysis of client financials, industry trends, and exposure data.
• Monitor market trends and regulatory changes in the Austrian and Central European Financial Lines market to adjust strategies as needed.
• Collaborate with internal teams - including Claims, Legal, and Actuarial - to support comprehensive risk evaluation.
• Contribute to your own professional growth through training and ongoing development to stay current on industry practices and product innovations.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

• A degree in Law, Economics, or a related field.
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and brokers.
• Knowledge of insurance products and policy wordings, particularly in Financial Lines is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Ability to develop and implement underwriting strategies independently, even at a non-managerial level.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail in documentation and risk assessment.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Flexibility to adapt to market changes and evolving business needs.
• A collaborative team mindset with the ability to work effectively across departments.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in both German (C1) and English (C1).
• Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software tools.
• A working understanding of AI tools and their potential applications in underwriting workflows, such as data analysis, risk modelling, or process automation, is an advantage.
