Position Overview

As a Principal Solution Architect, you will be a technical subject matter expert with experience automating technical/functional Autodesk solutions that create competitive advantage for companies in the industry space. You'll work with our customers' leadership teams to design solutions with specifications that can be traced to business strategy and success metrics. You will report to the Manager of Solution Architecture. This is a remote role.

Employing industry standard methodologies and frameworks, you'll lead a team to build solutions that improve our customer's business processes, workflows, and lifecycle management with seamless integration into their enterprise systems. By educating customers on key architecture considerations, estimating effort and resources required, and advising on implementation decisions, you create a clear path to successfully develop, integrate, and deploy new solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Define Software and IT System architecture by evaluating and translating customer business needs

  • Define Solution architecture and/or validate customer's architecture feasibility

  • Designing Data Architectures that support effective data integration and deployment of AI models

  • Creates a path to develop, integrate and deploy Autodesk solutions into enterprise

  • Keeps abreast with technology trends (innovative and disruptive) affecting our customers

  • Select and deploy appropriate data storage solutions

  • Understand data pipelines to promote efficient enterprise data flow

  • Understand data cleansing and data mining strategies to allow ML and AI solutions

  • Provide input to team members for arriving at best possible solution

  • Provide insight into enterprise impact from proposed solution

  • Educate and highlight main architecture considerations to implement solution

  • Provide look-forward view of solution wireframe

  • Be voice of Autodesk solutions in multiple outlets such as conferences, whitepapers and blogs

  • Give visibility of complete dependencies of People, Process and Technology

  • Contribute towards Customer's Change Management framework and identify division of labor

  • Gather and internalize rich customer feedback, using it to produce solutions that fill core or future needs

  • Acts as "Trusted Advisor" to the customer and guide them to success

  • Works with project managers and project sponsors to provide enterprise solutions to specific business issues across many domains

  • Collaborate with the broader architecture community to ensure that their solutions align with target architectures and technology roadmaps

  • Preparation and presentation project documentation for the customer partners

  • Present "point of view" on implementation roadmap to multiple types of partners

  • Develop "reference architectures" and promote re-use in implementing Autodesk technologies

  • Mentor developers and 3rd party consultants

  • Participate in code reviews to ensure new code conforms to highest standards

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or similar field

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with relevant BS degree, or 8+ years with advanced degree

  • Database Knowledge: In-depth understanding of database structure principles

  • Experience working on large-scale, customer-facing, web and cloud applications

  • .NET skills. Our language of choice on the server-side is .NET

  • Knowledge of machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch

  • Candidate have implemented applications in Cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, Google

  • You have Architected solutions to integrate workflow from traditional desktop to cloud applications

  • Practical experience building or integrating with RESTful web services

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data Visualization: Familiarity with data visualization tools like PowerBI or Tableau

  • SQL Proficiency: Strong skills in SQL

  • Big Data Technologies: Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop or Spark

  • Data Warehousing and ETL: Understanding of data warehousing and ETL tools1

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services OR Azure

  • Experience in solutions in Manufacturing Industry

  • Knowledge of or Certified in Architecture Assessment Methods like TOGAF

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $118,200 and $191,290. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
