BASF Services (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, established in 1997, provides infrastructure and utilities support services to BASF sites in Malaysia. Objectives of the Position

  • Lead the maintenance team & contractor on maintenance activities.
  • Responsible for cost effective maintenance of Polymer Dispersions Plant.
  • Responsible for reviewing the performance of the team members and appraise them.

Main Tasks

Related to Maintenance

  • Plan and implements Preventive Maintenance & Predictive Maintenance to optimize availability of equipment and cost of repairs or respectively replacements.
  • Drive Digitalization in the Plant.
  • Drive Sustainable measures to improve the carbon footprint under the guidance of Plant Manager.
  • Lead small projects in the plant for Improvement under Capex & OpEx.
  • Analysis root cause of equipment-failures and create action plan to reduce it.
  • Ensure smooth operation of the plant by reducing Unexpected & Scheduled Losses.
  • Oversees the continuous improvement of maintenance and automation activities.
  • Ensure right equipments & parts are installed against the specification & technical data.
  • Ensure the equipments are installed & maintained as per local laws & procedures.
  • Controls all technical equipment after being manufactured respectively repaired by external sources and releases them for use.
  • Control administration of spare-parts and stock movements.
  • Develop maintenance procedures & ensure compliance to them.
  • Train & develop the maintenance team.
  • Ensure Safety Devices are well maintained.

Related for EHS

  • Responsible for safe operation of plant activities as stipulated by local statutory’s regulation and BASF’s requirement.
  • Implements the ED Safety Plant Concept in plant operation to ensure the safe working environment.
  • Coordinates the safety reviews and maintains the records using STATURE & other applications.
  • Ensures the local statutory requirements and regulations of the plant’s equipment and devices by maintaining and monitoring the records.
  • Ensures safety performance of plant through following EHS practices, procedures defined for the plant.
  • Responsible for the reporting of Near miss/ Accidents and Incidents in action tracker and AIMS system.
  • Maintain Safety, Health and Environment system in the plant concerning employees and equipment.
  • Ensuring proper maintenance of all the norms as per the departmental operating procedures of ISO 9001, 14001 and 50001.
  • Responsible for the adherence to the PPE usage among the maintenance and project personnel and follow work permit system meticulously.
  • Guide shop floor personnel towards SHE (Safety, Health and Environment) / Responsible Care / Cleanliness of the plant (5S) /discipline for improving the BASF’s safe work culture. This ensures compliance to statutory requirements, which also includes the training of the subordinates regarding the safety aspects and handling of equipment and hazardous chemicals.
  • Ensure the documentation of Responsible care and ISO management systems on continual basis.

Minimum Education and Qualification Required for the Position

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree In Engineering.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years (with minimum of 5 years’ experience in Chemical process Industry

Technical & Professional Knowledge:

  • Strong fundamentals in engineering.
  • Good interpersonal, leadership and time management skills with ability to interact in a multiple hierarchical level.
  • Continuous improvement techniques and methods including, overall asset effectiveness, Statistical techniques.
  • Distributed control system operations / Safety instrumented system functions (SIS) for enhanced safety of the operations.
