• Expert in automotive coatings for water borne and solvent borne technologies
• Drives basecoat development activities and ensures know-how exchange and collaboration within the Coatings
• Actively contribute to basecoat development projects
• In depth knowledge of coating formulations, resin chemistry, coating additives, pigments and solvents
• Practical experience with coating test methods and familiar with ASTM, DIN and GB standard for basecoat technology
• General knowledge and experience in pneumatic application and electrostatic application
• Exercise a high level of good housekeeping and Health and Safety Awareness within the Lab and insure others to do the same.

• Basecoat development, paint application, evaluation of coatings performance according to standards/customer requirements
• Actively exchange with customerization team to ensure success development and launch of products
• Coach product upscale to ensure technology transfer to lab phase to production phase
• Contact with raw material suppliers for screening/introducing new raw materials
• Close contact and exchange with global basecoat community to build up basecoat competence
• Promotes know-how exchange and collaboration within Coatings Business Unit
• Implement and maintain BASF global EHS norms
• Guides and provides required training for the work of one or more chemists or technicians and supervises visiting students or scientists on temporary assignments.
• Writes comprehensive reports and evaluations on data obtained from experimentation and, if necessary, orally present observations, conclusions and recommendations to persons in areas of the company’s interests.
