Objective:
As a Data Engineer you focus on delivering business intelligence. You will be responsible for designing and developing data infrastructure that enables the organization to derive actionable insights from its data.
You will work closely with data analysts and business stakeholders to ensure the availability and quality of data for reporting and analytics purposes.
Main Task:
- Data Pipeline Development: Design, implement, and maintain ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into e.g. PostgreSQL databases and data warehouses.
- Database Management: Optimize and manage relational databases, ensuring data integrity, security, and efficient querying for analytical purposes.
- Power BI Development: Create, optimize, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards that provide clear insights and support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
- Data Quality Assurance: Implement data validation and quality checks to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data used in reports and analyses.
- Collaboration: Work closely with data analysts, business stakeholders, and other engineering teams to understand reporting needs and translate those requirements into effective data solutions.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize the performance of data pipelines and Power BI reports, ensuring timely access to insights.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data models, ETL processes, and reporting solutions to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in data engineering and BI reporting, and recommend improvements to enhance data processes and reporting capabilities.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelorâs degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, with a focus on ETL processes and data modeling.
- Proficiency in Power BI, including report and dashboard creation, data visualization best practices, and DAX (Data Analysis Expressions).
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL, including database design, optimization, and complex querying.
- Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, ETL processes, and automation tasks.
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented mindset.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Skills (Nice to have):
- Experience with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, PowerBI) is a plus.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and their data services.
- Understanding of data governance and data privacy best practices.
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts and predictive analytics.
