Main Tasks:
[R&D Project Management]
- Manage, supervise, and steer R&D projects in the field of Polyurethane technology, esp. in footwear application.
- Transform the project objectives into work plans for lab team, analyze & interpret experimental results. Develop innovation methods and procedures for synthesis, formulation, testing or analysis within the polyurethane lab team.
- Bring new product to market and contribute to the overall business success in close collaboration with other relevant functions (TD, sales, marketing…) and technical experts in BASF global competence centres via active exchange. Build up network within global R&D team.
- Closely watching and achieving project milestones, timeline and budget. Alongside documenting and presenting results, file patents.
[Scientific Research]
- Work as technical expert in the field of footwear, build up the competence of process with different machinery, and trouble-shooting hints in customer site.
- Develop new ideas for new research projects & topics and discuss, align with relevant research and business community.
- Maintain an overview of the prevailing market trends, competitor activities and scientific developments pertaining to products/material and processing technologies
- Closely follow and evaluate scientific literature, publications, IP and draw conclusions for assigned work scope
[Lab Team Leadership]
- Organize and supervise lab work, Instruct, and coach the laboratory team.
- Implement and ensure compliance with BASF standards for all lab team activities including EHS.
Main Requirements:
- Master's Degree or PhD in polymer chemistry, material science, organic chemistry, physical chemistry or equivalent.
- More than 6 years of relevant work experience.
- Technical & Professional Knowledge: Project management, presentation, IT skills, patents, innovation and ideation processes.
- Fluency in English; German is a definite plus.
