The Penguin Random House Publisher Services (PRHPS) team plays a vital role in guiding over 60 independent publishers through day-to-day sales and operational processes and issues. We are currently seeking an Associate to join the team to support operational and overall PRHPS departmental needs. The PRHPS Client Operations team specializes in supporting our client publishers through warehousing, distribution, financial accounting, and book production processes.
The Associate role is a great fit for an individual who enjoys helping others, possesses a keen eye for detail, and is always interested in learning how something works. This position is intended to function as an entryway for someone who is interested in growth within this department, and who already has several years of experience working in a professional environment.
An ideal candidate would have a passion for books, a basic understanding of the book business, and an interest in learning about the full scope of the publisher services distribution process—from how books get from printers to the hands of consumers, to how data interacts within systems, to day-to-day problem solving. Additionally, this role will take on administrative tasks such as managing the President’s calendar, scheduling meetings, taking notes (with AI assist), client outreach, creating and editing process documentation, reporting, and more.
Responsibilities:
- Assist operations team when investigating client issues;
- Weekly client outreach to collect missing metadata and deliverables;
- Coordinate interdepartmental initiatives, including remainder sales, inventory cleanups, metadata cleanups, and more;
- Support special projects team with team workflows and project initiatives;
- Manage calendars and meetings for President of PRHPS department;
- Run reporting on client data;
- Create, edit, and manage all process documentation;
- Build PowerPoint decks and other presentation materials;
- Test new client-facing training initiatives;
- Schedule and take notes during meetings in collaboration with meeting support tools.
Qualifications:
- A few years of administrative, operations, and/or project management experience;
- Technologically savvy, with professional experience using Microsoft Office Suite and databases a plus;
- A meticulous eye for detail, solution-minded, with a knack for problem solving;
- Communicates comfortably across different levels both interdepartmentally and externally with clients;
- Takes initiative, learns through asking questions, is curious, and has a strong desire to understand the “why” behind the work;
- Desires to work in a highly collaborative environment across departments and functions;
- An interest in learning about all aspects of the book distribution business, including warehousing, metadata, production, and more;
- Book/publishing industry experience is a plus.
This position is open to remote.
The salary for this position is $56,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
