Role:

As the Software Engineering Manager for Private Equity & Real Estate Technology, you will lead a dynamic team of full-stack engineers in designing, building, deploying, testing, and supporting a cutting-edge NextJS web application hosted on AWS. Your role will be instrumental in helping to transform the Alternative Asset Management industry through innovative technology solutions. Collaborating with business stakeholders, you will help drive business value while ensuring the delivery of high-quality code. You’ll tackle a variety of problems from scaling out infrastructure to promoting business efficiency through automating business processes. You’ll devise elegant solutions to Blackstone's most important problems and put your own best ideas to work in an entrepreneurial environment.

Our internal applications leverage a highly scalable microservices architecture deployed on cloud-hosted containerized environment. Key technologies in our stack include NextJS/React, FastAPI, Python, C#, Terraform, SQL, AWS ECS, AWS Lambda, AWS Step Function, AWS DynamoDB, AWS S3, CI/CD tooling (e.g., Jenkins), and data warehouse solutions like Snowflake.

Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of full-stack engineers, providing hands-on guidance and fostering a culture of technical excellence.

  • Architecture and Development: Collaborate with your team to design, build, and maintain a web application using NextJS, Fast API, Python, C#, and other relevant technologies. Further, evolve and adopt technologies to help deliver business value in a secure, reliable, and scalable manner.

  • Cloud Expertise: Leverage your expertise in AWS services such as AWS Lambda, AWS Step Function, AWS DynamoDB, AWS S3, and Terraform to build and maintain scalable and resilient cloud-based solutions.

  • Microservices and Serverless: Drive the adoption of microservices architecture and serverless design principles to ensure high availability and cost-effective solutions.

  • Data Warehousing: Work with data engineering teams to interface with data warehouse solutions like Snowflake for data analytics and reporting.

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams both internally and externally, including product managers, designers, and QA engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

  • Team Development: Provide training and mentoring to team members, encouraging professional growth and enhancing skills.

Qualifications:

  • 10 + years software engineering with a strong command of NextJS or React, Fast API, Python, C#, Terraform, and AWS services

  • 2+ years of experience managing and mentoring software engineers

  • Deep understanding of microservices architecture, micro frontend architecture, and serverless design principles.

  • Proficiency in CI/CD tooling, particularly Jenkins, to enable efficient software development pipelines.

  • Previous experience with data warehouse solutions, especially Snowflake, is a plus.

  • Demonstrated exceptional leadership and communication skills, particularly in leading cross-functional teams in an agile environment.

  • Proven ability to partner effectively with business stakeholders to drive technology strategy and align it with organizational goals.

  • A self-starting, entrepreneurial attitude with a proven ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and industry trends.

  • A commitment to teaching, training, and mentoring team members, coupled with the ability to make substantial individual contributions.

  • A commitment to ensuring that the team consistently delivers high-quality code and facilitates effective communication and feedback within the team.

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, with demonstrated leadership experience in similar roles.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Expected annual base salary range:

$180,000 - $250,000

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.

Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
