This team builds products by harnessing the potential of open-source technologies while pushing the boundaries on Systems and Silicon Architecture. They are developers and leaders who are passionate about tackling complex technology, building large scale distributed systems and comfortable working with open-source communities and technologies.
As a senior software engineer, you will work closely with a group of engineers, QA and automation engineers, collaborate extensively with technical leads and engineering managers. You need to be ready to present solutions to customers and other stakeholders.
You will be involved with a fast-paced work environment and responsible for end-to-end product development and production support.
What You'll Do
The SONiC team in DSE is looking for awesome talented individuals to help build their Next Generation NOS.
In this role, you will be responsible to build and deploy SONiC solution, collaborate with engineering teams, technical leads and architects. You will adopt new development tools and infrastructure, manage release engineering activities, CICD pipelines, come up with efficient build mechanisms and accelerate software development process.
You'll also be responsible to ensure that the solution built is secured, safe from cyber security threats and meets global and Cisco standards. As you learn the new technologies, you propose new ideas and implement those continuously in the development process.
Who You Are
You have a proven track record of being a DevOps engineer, worked earlier in a similar software engineering environment. You are hands on having real production-level experience, preferably in core networking domain. You are eager to build best in class products for Datacenter Enterprise customers and Service Providers.
- Around 10 years of software development experience, with very good exposure on distributed architecture.
- Atleast 3 years of hands-on working experience with Docker and Linux-based infrastructures.
- Successful track record of improving infrastructure through automation and development of tools.
- Excellent knowledge on how to build applications by using make files, source code management, Maven, Debian images etc.
- Working knowledge of various tools and open-source technologies.
- Adept in Python and Groovy scripts. Proficiency with Git and GitHub workflows.
- Comfortable with GitHub, Jira, CI/CD Pipelines, Jenkins.
- Good understanding of monitoring, alerting, logging frameworks, databases including NoSQL databases.
- Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills.
- Good team player with nice communication and presentation skills. Self motivated and quick learner. Strong will to accelerate agile development process.
- If you have worked on SONiC program earlier, it is a huge plus.
When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
