The Cloud Security group within SBG focuses on developing cloud delivered security solutions (SaaS based) in a platform centric approach. This group is an autonomous group within the business group, and operates like a Startup to nurture innovation in a highly disruptive and high growth domain. This group was formed a year back by combining some of existing cloud assets Cisco had with two hugely successful acquisitions - OpenDNS. Our vision is to build the most complex security solutions in a cloud delivered way with utmost simplicity - disrupt industry's thinking around how deep and how broad a security solution can be while keeping it easy to deploy and simple to manage. We are looking for passionate Lead software engineers to help us migrate, launch and operate the next generation of the cloud security / Cisco Secure Access platform in an AWS.

Our engineering team is composed of highly skilled individuals who are comfortable working in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous, and technically challenging environment. Members are involved with all stages of the product development process from solving complex engineering problems to working directly with customers.

What You’ll Do

You are a Tech Lead Software Engineer that enjoys wearing many hats, you have experience building, scaling and operating software's in cloud-native environments. A self-starter that's willing to jump headfirst into the codebase and start improving it immediately. You stay on top of industry best practices and you’ve successfully established relationships with engineering teams based on collaboration, empathy, and the pursuit of excellence.

You’d like to see the true full stack nature of our Cloud Security products (from Cloud Infra to Softwares to Web UI). You think about customer experience and can promote objectives that will significantly improve it. Excellent communicator. You’ll be collaborating with teams distributed across several time zones. You use design documents and visualizations/data to prove your points and can get buy-in.

Who You Are

· Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent with 11 to 15+ years' experience in designing, analysing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems

· Professional experience in cloud-native development using Java/J2EE with Python (nice to have) or Golang with Python (nice to have).

· Strong technical expertise on cloud technologies and cloud architectural patterns. Key areas include HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, TCP/IP, Rest API services, SAML, OAuth2, Encryption, Containerization (K8), Micro-services Architecture, Distributed Systems design patterns , Application monitoring – observability and Elastic scaling.

· As a Technical Lead you will be working as part of a technically skilled team to Plan, lead, develop and maintain critically important components and features, running on public cloud.

· Experience in managing a large scale SaaS service - both development and operations.

· Agile and lean practices, DevOps culture and iterative customer feedback based development is a key aspect of our culture.

· Sound technical depth - ability to go deep into technical architecture and design when needed to solve a complex problem.

· Strong engineering delivery and execution track record using agile continuous deployment process

· Proven technical leadership skills on building upcoming leadership talent pipeline by coaching/mentoring, collaboration beyond boundaries, managing without authority and leading change.

· Debugging and Troubleshooting: Strong ability to diagnose and resolve software issues quickly.

· Root Cause Analysis: Skilled in performing post-incident reviews and root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences.

Nice to Have:

· Experience with advanced deployment strategies, such as blue/green and canaries.

· Knowledge of testing methodologies, monitoring, observability tools (Datadog, Grafana) and techniques.

· Good knowledge of emerging cyber threats and threat intelligence techniques to detect and remediate threats (MITRE ATT&CK) framework

· Incident Management: Familiarity with incident management processes and tools (e.g., PagerDuty).

· Service-Level Agreements (SLAs): Understanding of SLAs and how to ensure compliance.

· Documentation: Ability to create and maintain clear and detailed documentation for troubleshooting procedures and system architecture.

For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings.

Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days of vacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period. Exempt new hires participate in Cisco’s flexible Vacation Time Off policy, which does not place a defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use, but is subject to availability and some business limitations. All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter. Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community.

Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:

.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;

1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;

1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.

For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
