Shape the automation of digital transformation

Our Applications and Application Platforms team in IT & Digitalization provides powerful, secure and efficient developer environments and cloud tools. Our main goal is to accelerate digital transformation through the use of efficient IT tools - especially through automation.

Automation is a key instrument for accelerating the work of our internal and external stakeholders. We are responsible for the implementation, operation and the entire framework around automation solutions. By automating manual IT-supported processes, we increase efficiency in numerous business areas such as Marketing & Sales, Research & Development, Innovation, Production, IT and Finance.

In your new role, you will identify manual processes and develop automation solutions to drive digital transformation at Covestro. Your contribution will be to save time and resources across the organization through process automation.

Your tasks and responsibilities in detail:

• You will take over product ownership for the Automation Factory

• To this end, you will establish and lead a product team. In connection with this, you will coordinate the product backlog and ensure that the product develops in line with the strategic plans and initiatives. You will work with relevant Covestro stakeholders to drive the product vision forward

• With the help of the product team, you ensure that the implemented solutions meet all quality standards and are implemented on time and within budget You translate the requirements of all users and their feedback into so-called "user stories" and prioritize them.

• In addition, you will take responsibility for the operation of corresponding existing automations and take care of the further development of the corresponding automation framework based on cloud-native technologies.

• In the product owner role, you will deal with all functional and technical aspects that further fill out the product vision and find out about new technologies, frameworks and tools that can be used for the automations.

You can convince with this personality:

• You have a university degree in computer science or natural sciences and already have at least several years of professional experience in the areas of cloud-based application development, automation and interface implementation.

• You are proficient in common programming languages for the implementation of automation solutions (Python, Type Script) and use linters, formatter, pre-commit hooks in your daily routine.

• You have sound experience in creating architectures and global project management skills.

• You have extensive experience in deploying and maintaining solutions on AWS with Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation/CDK) and serverless hosting of applications (Lambda functions, containers).

• You also have a good understanding of Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery processes for automated software delivery and are familiar with the common components (Lint, Security, Build, Test, Deploy).

• You have an entrepreneurial mindset and are willing to work on challenges from different areas.

• Agile working is part of your basic attitude and you are very familiar with agile working methods and the corresponding tools.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with fluency in German and English complete your profile.
