As Head of Tax, you will take overall responsibility for the UK tax framework across Daimler Truck UK, Daimler Bus UK, and Daimler Truck Financial Services UK.
You will ensure the Group’s tax affairs are compliant, optimised, and strategically aligned with broader financial objectives. Acting as the primary point of contact with HMRC, you will oversee corporate tax, VAT, SAO requirements, regulatory reporting, and audit coordination while embedding robust governance standards.
Working closely with CFOs, the Head of Accounting and Controlling, Shared Services, and the Daimler Truck AG Tax Department, you will ensure consistency, transparency, and best practice across all UK entities.
This role requires both tactical technical depth and strategic foresight — balancing compliance excellence with proactive identification of fiscal optimisation opportunities.
Tax Strategy & Compliance
- Develop and implement the UK Group tax strategy to optimise tax efficiency and mitigate risk
- Ensure full compliance with UK tax legislation across all Group entities
- Oversee preparation and submission of corporate tax returns, VAT returns, SAO declarations and regulatory filings
- Maintain robust “four-eyes” controls and approval processes
HMRC & Regulatory Management
- Act as primary liaison with HMRC across all UK Group companies
- Manage tax audits and enquiries
- Ensure regulatory reporting requirements are fulfilled accurately and on time
Governance & Risk Management
- Maintain compliance with Daimler Group policies, Anti-Bribery standards, competition law and corporate governance requirements
- Identify, assess and mitigate tax risk exposure
- Optimise tax processes to drive efficiency and simplification across the UK Group
Strategic Financial Support
- Provide expert tax advice to CFOs and senior leadership
- Contribute to long-term financial planning and strategic decision-making
- Support acquisitions, business initiatives and commercial activities with forward-looking tax analysis
- Partner with external advisors where appropriate to supplement specialist advisory requirements

- Qualified Tax Accountant (CTA and/or ACA)
- University degree (finance, tax, accounting or related discipline)
- Several years’ professional tax experience within a group company or large professional services firm
- Up-to-date specialist knowledge of UK tax legislation
- Demonstrable experience working within HMRC frameworks
- Proven ability to manage tax compliance across complex organisations
Experience & Competencies
- Strong strategic and conceptual thinking capability
- Ability to identify fiscal optimisation opportunities while mitigating risk
- Confident communicator capable of influencing at senior leadership level
- Skilled at translating complex tax matters for non-specialist audiences
