Chief Technology Office (CTO)

Within Deutsche Bank’s (DB’s) Chief Technology Office (CTO), we are working with cutting-edge technology to transform the way we work. Our overall goal is to build and offer simple self-service shared platforms for clients to consume and in turn run their own business applications on.

Our Enterprise Analytics Platform (EAP) provides a stable and secure big data platform and tools across the enterprise. This group is now looking to expand our core data enabling capabilities to unleash the value of the Company's data assets to gain competitive advantage in the marketplace. In addition, we are advancing our journey to Cloud (GCP).

We are using a combination of vendor supported Enterprise Hadoop technologies coupled with Cloud native services and use automation for efficiency and accuracy. Our highest priority is to satisfy the customer through early and continuous delivery of valuable software and technology.

As a Big Data Senior Engineer (f/m/x), you will work with CIO teams, Group architecture, Support and SDLC team to enable new features on the analytics platform. You will be responsible for building data solutions in collaboration with architects, product managers and other key programme stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities

  • Be responsible for building data solutions in collaboration with architects, product managers and other key programme stakeholders

  • Build, configure, and manage software on Cloud and/or on-prem for IaaS and PaaS Big Data solutions

  • Increase and tune operational efficiency (low cost/high automation) on production grade systems

  • Support the adoption of an agile way of working by collaborating with agile coaches to deliver a scaled scrum approach; thereby actively contributing and delivering on features, stories, tasks and ceremonies

  • Work with the wider community of engineers across the enterprise to increase standards and discipline

Your skills and experiences

  • Experience of the Hadoop ecosystem (preferably with Cloudera) and the technologies that comprise it

  • Expertise and knowledge in Data Structures and Algorithms, SQL on Hadoop engines (e.g., Hive, Impala, Spark SQL) and OOP languages (like Java, C++, and Python); knowledge in RDBMS, various NoSQL technologies and BI visualization tooling is a definite plus

  • Excellent problem-solving skills within an agile team and process culture; ability to identify inefficiencies, duplication and look at ways and means for simplification

  • Demonstrable expertise in (Big) Data Engineering, e.g., designing, building, operationalizing, securing, and monitoring data processing systems with a particular emphasis on security and compliance, or developing data pipelines using Cloud native data technologies (Storage accounts/ CloudSQL/ BigTable/ BigQuery/ Dataflow/ Dataproc etc)

  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English; German language knowledge is a plus
