DB’s Cloud FinOps function drives financial accountability of cloud consumption at DB, providing distributed teams with insights into their consumption, spend, optimization, and control options to ensure cloud usage is managed efficiently.

We are actively seeking a Technical Product Owner for the bank’s strategic Cloud Financial Management Tool (FinOps-Looker Tool). The candidate will be responsible for strategy, design, build and management of the FinOps-Looker Tool which provides cost insights, enables cloud cost efficiency, and supports strategic decision-making.

Your key responsibilities

  • Take ownership of our FinOps-Looker Tool strategy and continuously drive enhancements aligned to the central FinOps function’s objectives

  • Collaborate with bank-wide cloud stakeholders to solicit FinOps-Looker feature requests and translate them into well-defined technical solutions with clear implementation requirements

  • Partner with CTO platform teams, Product Owners and Technology Business Management (TBM) to design, implement, and manage the allocation strategy for shared and platform costs to enable showback and chargeback

  • Partner with the bank’s cloud platform engineering team to develop GCP platform features that support the FinOps agenda (e.g. plugins, policies, modules)

  • Stay abreast of the latest GCP Service and/or offering developments - including how they are billed - to assess and inform any potential impact to our cloud stakeholders

  • Continuously evaluate and consider FinOps products available in the market, as candidates to enhance the bank’s FinOps tooling capability

Your skills and experiences

  • Considerable work experience in infrastructure and cloud, with solid knowledge of common cloud-related technologies (e.g., Terraform, Github) and programming languages (e.g., python, SQL)

  • Extensive knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Services, Billing, and Usage data

  • A financial business background (e.g., PnL, budgeting, TCO, ROI, cost utilization)

  • Experience in design and implementation of cloud cost allocation practices, including but not limited to, labelling strategies

  • Familiarity with native and/or industry FinOps tools (e.g., GCP FinOps Hub, Looker, AWS Cloud Cost Explorer, CloudHealth, Cloudability)

  • Ideally, you are a FinOps Certified Practitioner or Professional with experience in cloud cost optimisation
