Role Description

The SAS team in Infrastructure - TDI is seeking for a Lead SAS Engineer (m/f/d) in the Finance Data Warehouse.

Overall Responsibility

The lead engineer works as a member of the IT department which develops programs for the regulatory reporting, Stress Testing and reports for the Board. The individual will be a senior member of the team. Beside the small team in Frankfurt, there is a close cooperation with a vendor team in Manila, Philippines which comprises approx. 20 developers. This position covers different roles with various interfaces to other technologies, mainly Oracle, Java, MicroStrategy and Unix. Furthermore, there is a close collaboration with Business – Group Finance and Risk – Operations and Production Support and other IT areas. Our department is following the agile working model.

Your key responsibilities

• Employs a wide range of strategies to gather relevant information across a broad range of sources, and evaluates multiple solutions concurrently, impartially assessing them against a range of engineering, business and strategic criteria. Takes a lead in the design process, designing more complex solutions autonomously, considering architectural aspects and non-functional requirements. Increasingly provides design support to other team members, and drives design tools and techniques across the team.
• Effectively and confidently communicates complex messages, in a clear and concise manner, adjusting their message to fit different audiences. Influences others by fully understanding the concerns and perspectives of others.
• Builds long-term professional relationships and engineering networks and facilitates interaction across teams in order to generate well-rounded solutions.
• Develops self on an on-going basis and builds capability of individuals and teams through appropriate learning activities, development of best practice, and development strategies as well as recognising and encouraging efforts of individuals to develop themselves.
• Strong knowledge of how to operate and improve solutions and services.
• Manages incidents from root cause to resolution. Feeds back into engineering design and delivery to prevent recurrence of issues and reduce mean time to recovery.
• Delivers high quality complex solutions end to end autonomously across a range of technologies. Influences standards, working practices, tools and solutions across their team and is emerging as an expert in one or more technical domains. Drives automation of the delivery process.

Your skills and experience

Experience and Education

• At least 10 -15 years’ experience in SAS programming using Base & Macro (V9)
• Experience in design and development of complex topics and code
• Working knowledge using SAS/Connect to Oracle
• Advanced experience working with mass data in very large databases and tables
• Experience with performance issues related to big data on a huge platform
• Experience with testing environments and the development of test cases
• Working knowledge developing SQL
• Fluent in English (written/verbal)
• Excellent analytical skills, flexibility regarding problem solving, open minded, able to share information, transfer knowledge and expertise to team members
• Service based architecture and designing of the same
• Technical architecture especially framework designs

Desirable

• Knowledge in GIT Bitbucket, Unix scripting and Python
• Knowledge in financial business, especially in the counterparty credit risk area
• Experience with SAS GRID Manager
• Experience with Airflow/Google Cloud composer
• Generative programming
• DevOps
