DHL Global Forwarding has an opening for CDZ TEAM LEADER in Cameroon. In this role, you will develop and administer customs and trade compliance plans and processes to provide clearance of freight documentation through the relevant customs authorities, and work with customers to guide and advise on customs regulation qualifications in line with business strategy and objectives, as well as corporate guidelines and policies.

In this CDZ TEAM LEADER position

  • You will execute customs and trade compliance plans and processes to optimize service and cost performance in customs clearance activities.
  • You will contribute to planning and directing the flow of air and surface traffic to and from foreign destinations to ensure customs clearance is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • You will monitor shipped items, shipping validity dates, and debits and duties/tariffs at government institutions.
  • You will execute customs entries, categorize goods based on information provided by customers, and undertake customs security filings.
  • You will close out post-clearance modifications, execute inbound and outbound documentation, archive customs documents, and record customs shipment information and physical status.
  • You will calculate duties, tariffs, price conversions, and the weight and volume of merchandise exported to and imported from foreign destinations.
  • You will impart guidance on pricing and margins and provide support on bids, RFQs, and customer presentations.
  • You will resolve customer issues and appropriately manage incidents such as escalations and disputes raised by internal or external customers.
  • You will stay updated with the latest regulatory changes and ensure adherence to compliance standards, legal requirements, and import/export control legislation.
  • You will pursue activities for issuing and controlling import licenses and manage processes and controls within the export area.
  • You will collaborate with counterparts in customs authorities and government bodies to enable smooth operations and meet regulatory compliance requirements.
  • You will participate in the development and implementation of workflow models between central customs operations and transactional operations teams.
  • You will study and resolve issues in day-to-day delivery and implement practices and quality standards for customs focused on increasing effectiveness, efficiency, and cost control.
  • You will research, identify, and obtain the permits, licenses, and certificates required for customs clearance and general customs formalities.
  • You will advise customers on legal and customs topics, including trade compliance matters such as shipments to sanctioned countries.

  • Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience/qualification.
  • Experience Level: more than 4 years.
