The Country Manager is accountable for the overall performance, sustainability and reputation of the Express business in Botswana. The role provides strategic direction and operational leadership to drive profitable growth, strong cash flow, market leadership and consistent delivery of industry‑leading service standards, while ensuring full compliance with local regulatory and governance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Enable and manage the achievement of service performance that exceeds customer expectations and differentiates DHL from the competitors.
• Liaise with key and strategically important customers at the appropriate level to ensure customer retention, development and growth of new business.
• Create, maintain and develop a favorable DHL image with various influential audience such as customers, business partners, industry bodies, trade unios and government/regulatory bodies to facilitate the company’s growth and development.
• Ensure that the annual business plan including revenue cash flow, profit and service levels are met, and corrective action is taken to rectify any negative variance.
• Contribute to the regional direction, ensuring that local environment factors are taken into consideration in setting of strategies and policies
• Ensure revenue yield enhancement and market share growth through development
• Improve liquidity through good capital and debtor management
• Align people and competencies to meet the business objectives and manage staff competency levels and performance according to service requirements and business needs

Education and experience

• Relevant tertiary qualification, preferably a university degree, with strong commercial or business grounding.
• At least 5 years’ senior or general management experience in Express, logistics, aviation or a comparable service‑focused industry.
• Proven track record of leading complex, multi‑functional operations with full P&L accountability.
• Strong business acumen with a sound understanding of commercial, operational, financial, people and regulatory environments.
