DHL Express currently has an opening for a Talent Acquisition Specialist in our National Office at our Brampton, ON facility. This role requires someone who excels in a fast-moving, growing environment and someone who lives and breathes our company values beyond recruitment expertise.

How will you contribute to the success of DHL?

  • Build and deliver excellence in each stage of the talent acquisition process including sourcing, employer brand, candidate engagement and experience, screening, selection and hiring.
  • Work closely with hiring managers to ensure a thorough understanding of the position requirements and expectations.
  • Provide consistent follow up with internal management and candidates to ensure timeliness of the recruitment process.
  • Take initiative with stakeholders to develop new recruitment strategies.
  • Proactively seek out passive candidates through creative sourcing techniques.
  • Focus on recruiting for supervisory, specialist, analyst and advisor roles while also assisting with other recruitment needs to support the overall team objectives and ensure a balanced workload.
  • Stay abreast of relevant external employment market trends and proactively propose new strategies.
  • Participate in networking events, attend job fairs and off-site recruitment programs to obtain a strong pool of candidates and to effectively meet hiring needs.
  • Screening and Evaluation:
    • Review resumes and applications to assess qualifications and match with job requirements.
    • Conduct phone screens or initial interviews to evaluate candidates’ skills, experience and cultural fit.
    • Create screening/interview questions based on the job description and the ideal candidate for the position.
    • Administer pre-employment assessments and tests, if applicable.
  • Interview Coordination:
    • Schedule and coordinate interviews with hiring managers and team members.
    • Provide candidates with information about the company and the interview process.
    • Collect feedback from interviewers and communicate updates to candidates.
  • Candidate Assessment
    • Assess candidates’ qualifications, skills and cultural fit with the organization.
    • Collaborate with hiring managers to make informed decisions on candidate selection.
    • Conduct reference checks and background checks as required.
  • Offer Management:
    • Prepare and extend job offers to successful candidates.
    • Gather salary and benefits packages in alignment with company guidelines.
    • Ensure a smooth onboarding process for accepted candidates.
  • Data Management and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of candidate information in the applicant tracking system (ATS).
    • Generate reports on recruitment metrics and provide insights to improve the recruitment process.
  • Compliance and Documentation:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws and regulations.
    • Maintain records of recruitment activities, including job descriptions, offer letters, and related documents.
    • Ensure compliance with company security and safety standards by conducting required background checks based on the position, including but not limited to criminal background checks, denied party vetting, and address/employment verification.
  • Champion the development of automating processes and systems to eliminate or reduce manual processes and tasks.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in the recruitment workflow to enhance efficiency and candidate experience.
  • Provide guidance and support to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Responsible for creating, updating, and presenting workshops designed for internal employees to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Manage the DHL in a Box process by overseeing inventory levels and reporting to the manager when new stock needs to be ordered. Schedule time for the team to assemble the boxes and ensure that each new hire receives a DHL in a Box.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Post-secondary education in HR and a minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in a related field.
  • Personable, able to comfortably deal with all job levels
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment, multitask requests, and adapt quickly to process and procedures
  • Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills
  • Project management and negotiation skills, an asset
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience working with an ATS
  • Self-motivated, agile and able to work autonomously and collaboratively
  • Great at building connections inside and outside the company
