The Director Customs Post Entry, Quality and Training is responsible for leading the quality, post‑entry compliance, and training programs that ensure regulatory accuracy and operational excellence across the U.S. network. This role provides governance, oversight, and continuous improvement to strengthen customs compliance, mitigate risk, and enhance workforce capability. The position works cross‑functionally with Operations, Finance, IT, and other organizational stakeholders to drive consistency, reduce defects, and support scalable, compliant customs operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality & Compliance Leadership
- Develop and govern the enterprise quality strategy aligned to U.S. Customs & Trade Compliance requirements.
- Oversee quality controls, audits, defect prevention, and corrective action programs.
- Monitor national quality performance and lead risk based mitigation efforts.
Post Entry Oversight
- Direct post entry programs including corrections, protests, supplemental filings, and reconciliation.
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, consistency, and adherence to SLA and regulatory standards.
- Drive financial risk reduction related to duty variances, misclassification, and penalties.
Training Strategy & Development
- Architect the training strategy for customs operations, quality, and compliance functions.
- Oversee curriculum design, competency models, certification pathways, and new‑hire and recurrent programs.
- Measure training effectiveness using performance metrics, quality outcomes, and audit results.
Data‑Driven Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Lead Lean, standard work, and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve throughput, and strengthen regulatory compliance.
- Leads the development of dashboards, KPIs, and scorecards that measure compliance accuracy, cycle times, and defect trends.
- Implement sustainable corrective actions that enhance accuracy, speed, and quality performance across customs operations.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Business, Logistics, Quality, or related field
Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in quality management, trade compliance, logistics, or operational leadership.
- Strong background in U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification, valuation, and audit readiness.
- Experience leading multi‑site teams and enterprise‑level improvement initiatives.
- Proven success managing post‑entry programs and high‑impact compliance functions.
- Experience developing and deploying enterprise training programs.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong expertise in U.S. customs regulations and compliance requirements
- Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in metrics, dashboards, and data‑driven decision‑making
- Solid grounding in Lean, standard work, and continuous improvement practices
- Ability to navigate complex operational, financial, and organizational challenges
- Clear, effective communicator able to turn complex regulatory issues into practical guidance
- Proven enterprise leadership and change‑management capability
- Strong cross‑functional influence and collaboration skills
- Strategic thinker focused on risk reduction, quality improvement, and scalable operation
