DHL Finance and HR Services Americas, a division of Deutsche Post DHL Global Business Services, is providing an opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced professional within a multi-cultural shared service environment. This role is based in the Shared Service Center (SSC) San Jose, Costa Rica.
Primary purpose of role
- Leads and drives the end-to-end credit and collections strategy for assigned regions, ensuring effective credit risk management and control of outstanding receivables, while optimizing cash flow performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads regional Collection teams towards achieving DSO, aging, and >60 outstanding balances targets.
- Designs and implements strategic initiatives to improve cash flow and reduce overdue balances.
- Provides structured coaching, performance management, and development plans for individuals and teams to ensure consistent goal achievement.
- Analyzes and drives proactive and reactive recovery strategies for past due accounts.
- Oversees invoice due date tracking and ensures timely follow-up and resolution of discrepancies.
- Conducts client interactions, including visits and high-level negotiations when required.
- Reviews and actively manages aging reports, identifying risks and opportunities at portfolio level.
- Leads weekly Credit Committee meetings for each country/region, ensuring visibility of key accounts, risks, and action plans.
- Manages large and complex portfolios, prioritizing critical accounts based on financial exposure and risk.
- Collaborates cross-functionally with Credit Risk, Commercial, FP&A, Customer Service, and Cash Application teams to resolve issues and optimize processes.
- Leads and ensures execution of credit control measures, including credit holds and risk mitigation actions.
- Drives continuous improvement initiatives, process standardization, and automation within the collections function.
- Participates in regional projects, including process migrations, system implementations, and transformation initiatives.
- Ensures strict confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive financial information, following compliance and data protection guidelines.
- Performs other duties and leads special projects as assigned.
Desired Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in Credit & Collections or Accounts Receivable.
- Minimum 5+ years of direct team leadership experience.
- Proven experience in regional or Shared Services environments (SSC).
- Experience managing high-value and complex portfolios.
- Proven track record leading and building highly productive teams, with demonstrated and measurable improvements in productivity, cash collection performance, and operational efficiency.
- Skills:
- Advanced level of English (mandatory).
- Portuguese is a strong plus.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to balance risk and business needs.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; must be assertive and influential.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Highly organized, responsible, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a results-oriented mindset.
- Proven capability to translate performance metrics into actionable insights, driving accountability, continuous improvement, and consistent target achievement.
