DHL Express currently has an opening for a Payroll Specialist in our National Office in Brampton. This role plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while supporting compliance, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position requires a proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to delivering exceptional service to internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing:
Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly employees and Owner Operators.
Enter Owner Operator invoices daily and issue fuel rates for all provinces as per collective agreements.
Handle daily payroll queries related to hourly, salaried, and Owner Operator payroll.
Compliance & Year-End Activities:
Process bi-weekly Records of Employment and update employee records in Kronos.
Support year-end activities, including preparation and reconciliation of T4s, T2200s, and other statutory filings.
Respond to Service Canada and Workers’ Compensation requests for payroll information.
Manage third-party payments such as garnishments and union dues on bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly schedules.
Audit & Continuous Improvement:
Conduct regular audits of payroll processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Identify root cause issues and recommend corrective actions.
Support automation initiatives for Owner Operator payroll processes to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
Prepare and present payroll-related training materials for stakeholders
Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for payroll processes.
System & Data Management:
Update new hires in Kronos and provide biometric access.
Maintain payroll-related details for new hires in Workforce Now (WFN).
Ad Hoc Projects:
Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
3–5 years of payroll experience.
Completion or progress toward Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification.
Proficiency in Workforce Dimensions and Workforce Now systems.
Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, IF functions) and experience with Access software.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent communication skills and customer orientation.
Team player with flexibility in working hours.
Quick learner, organized, and proactive in problem-solving.
