We are launching one of the most ambitious Customs Transformation programs in DHL Express history—and we are looking for exceptional talent to help shape it.

This multi-year global initiative spans people, processes, and technology, with the goal of significantly elevating our Customs Operations and quality worldwide. As part of this journey, we are scaling our Global Operations and IT teams from under 30 to over 100 high-impact professionals, building new capabilities and strengthening existing ones.

Key focus areas include establishing a best-in-class Program Management Office (PMO), creating a Global Customs Process team, expanding Business Capability teams, and investing significantly in advanced IT solutions. Backed by a multi-million Euro investment, this program is a long-term commitment to building smarter processes, stronger systems, and a future-ready Customs environment.

We are looking for a Manager Project Tools.

Role Location: Whilst this role has been advertised as located in a specific location, we will also be considering locating this role at other GHO locations in Europe, including Bonn, Brussels, Maastricht and Leipzig.

As Manager Project Tools you will be the technical owner of the project tool stack ecosystem that enables seamless, end‑to‑end execution of the cross‑functional transformation program. You ensure all functional and technical teams are equipped with intuitive, scalable, and reliable tools, processes and templates that support agile delivery, transparent program reporting, and consistent project management standards. By closely collaborating with business, IT, and methodology stakeholders, the role drives tool adoption, usability, and continuous improvement across the global delivery landscape and impacts delivery efficiency and transparency.

How will you contribute to the success of DHL?

Tooling Design, Implementation & Optimization
  • Define, develop, and continuously improve the end‑to‑end tool stack that supports agile transformation delivery, and classic program and project reporting.
  • Design and configure intuitive, scalable tool-supported processes, turning complex requirements into clear workflows, templates, and guidance.
  • Implement tools in collaboration with IT partners and related processes in alignment with business, functional, and IT stakeholders
  • Support technical integrations across tools (e.g., between BPM, Jira, workflow engines, automation platforms, process mining tools).
  • Ensure system performance, stability, and smooth operation.
Agile Coaching & Team Support
  • Coach project teams on agile practices and help them effectively apply and ensure seamless usage across the organization.
  • Drive harmonized tool adoption globally, ensuring consistency, usability, and continuous improvement across the project management ecosystem.
  • Equip teams with the skills and guidance needed to leverage their expertise and deliver efficiently across regions and functions.
Program & Delivery Enablement
  • Support the Senior Director Methodology & Project Tools in driving successful program delivery and enhancing project management standards.
  • Collaborate with the central PMO and the core functional and IT teams to align on program needs, ensure consistent methodology adoption, and coordinate training and onboarding activities.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Relevant university degree, Bachelor/ Master in Business Administration, Information Technology or similar.
  • Strong organization and project management skills.
  • Experience in project management tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, etc.)
  • Experience in defining project tool standards, guidelines and, templates.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages beneficial.
  • Strong willingness to approach projects with a can-do attitude and create standards, where no exist.
  • Analytical skills and capacity for conceptual thinking, able to think and act with a cross-process approach.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Capability to manage and coordinate multiple tool experts or functional users in a program setting.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information
