About the Role

We are currently seeking an Area Operations Manager for Oslo. The role holds overall responsibility for the management and development of operational units within the assigned area, including Gateway and Ground Operations.

The position is responsible for ensuring efficient operations in line with defined targets within Safety, Employee Engagement, Productivity, Service Quality, Cost, and Compliance, while driving continuous improvement of processes and structures.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, lead, manage, and follow up on daily operations within assigned facilities
• Drive performance in line with targets for Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost, and Employee Engagement
• Ensure a safe and secure working environment (HSE)
• Identify deviations and implement corrective actions
• Optimize the use of resources and operational assets
• Conduct internal benchmarking and implement best practices
• Lead and develop Gateway and Ground Operations processes
• Ensure efficient and timely handling of shipments
• Manage operational disruptions and implement measures to prevent recurrence
• Prepare and monitor budgets and investment plans
• Lead improvement initiatives and projects with operational and business impact
• Contribute to business development and support commercial functions
• Collaborate closely with local and regional Operations, Commercial, and Finance teams
• Build strong relationships across the DHL organization, and cooperate with external partners (suppliers, service partners, customers)
• Represent DHL in interactions with authorities, airport operators, and regulatory bodies

People Management Responsibility

• Lead operational teams consisting of supervisors and team leaders
• Develop employees and foster a strong performance culture

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience at department level
• Preferably 3–5 years of experience in a production or operational environment
• Minimum 8+ years of relevant professional experience overall
• Relevant higher education is an advantage
