YOUR TASKS:
The MCC Duty Manager plans, controls, and oversees the daily maintenance activities of the aircraft fleets managed by EAT at the Leipzig base and its outstations. In this role, he/she is responsible for supervising both technical maintenance personnel and MCC staff, ensuring the highest possible level of customer satisfaction and operational performance. The position also carries technical and disciplinary responsibility for maintenance teams, the MCC, troubleshooting functions, and all specialist departments reporting to Maintenance Management.
- Conducts daily operations meetings with all key departments to ensure that all planned maintenance activities are allocated appropriately and sufficient staffing levels are available.
- Provides up-to-date information on the technical status of aircraft located in Leipzig and at EAT outstations.
- Ensures regular status updates are reported to the respective operators through the MOC and Maintenance Management, including oversight of Layover and AOG reporting.
- Directs shift management activities related to planning, monitoring, and adjusting maintenance tasks and workforce resources within defined timeframes to meet customer performance requirements.
- Ensures compliance with safety regulations and Human Factors requirements among technical personnel.
- Ensures adherence to all applicable aviation regulations (LBA/EASA) as well as approved EAT internal procedures (e.g., MOE, CAME) and operator-specific requirements.
- Coordinates with supporting departments such as Engineering, STEP, Asset Management, and Logistics to return aircraft to service as quickly as possible, particularly in AOG situations and major maintenance events.
- Coordinates daily with Ramp Control to ensure uninterrupted maintenance access to aircraft.
- Ensures the effective and timely completion of all requested and required maintenance activities, supports root cause analysis, and drives corrective actions when necessary through KPI and performance monitoring.
- Ensures proper control, review, and timely return of work package documentation.
- Provides operational support to the Maintenance Operations Center (MOC) and Flight Operations Center (FOC).
- Ensures that all critical information is communicated through EAT’s reporting system during shift handovers.
- Acts as the primary point of contact for EAT customers and aircraft operators.
- Provides customer support for third-party rental and use of EAT equipment.
- Serves as the point of contact for hangar-related events, including contractors, visitors, and external stakeholders.
- Ensures good housekeeping standards and cleanliness within the hangar environment.
- Monitors process efficiency, identifies opportunities for improvement, and participates in continuous process optimization initiatives.
- Supports and implements company policies and objectives.
- Performs special assignments and project-related tasks as required.
- Assigns tasks and priorities to subordinate departments within the MCC structure.
- Develops and maintains processes, procedures, and work instructions.
- Coordinates, maintains, and monitors an effective reporting culture.
- Ensures efficient coordination and oversight of the entire MCC organization.
- Assumes overall responsibility for technical operations in the absence of the management team.
- Monitors and controls access to the EAT hangar and adjacent premises.
- Directs and manages maintenance operations using available resources to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient execution of all maintenance activities.
YOUR PROFILE:
- Completed university degree (or university of applied sciences degree) in Aircraft Engineering, or a completed vocational qualification as an Aircraft Mechanic with at least 5 years of professional experience working on wide-body aircraft, preferably within a large maintenance organization.
- At least 3 years of management experience in the aviation industry.
- Holder of a valid Part 66 Category B1 or B2 Aircraft Maintenance License.
- Very good German and English language skills, both written and spoken.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of technical English.
- Familiarity with the internal DHL structure (NCG/Flight Watch). In the event of DHL scheduling changes, EAT must react immediately, requiring a high degree of flexibility and motivation from all technical staff.
- Good knowledge of MS Office applications and other software systems such as AIMS, TRAX, and AMOS.
- Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft maintenance, quality management, aviation regulations (EASA, LBA requirements), safety, operational procedures, production and planning processes, as well as the internal DHL structure (NCG/Flight Watch).
- Good knowledge of aviation legislation, fundamentals of labor law, and company regulations, including collective bargaining agreements, works agreements, and EAT and Group policies.
