Job Summary

The role is responsible for supporting the testing and validation of iCap-AI's customs document data extraction capabilities across designated countries. The role ensures that information extracted from customs documentation is accurately interpreted and aligned with country-specific customs regulations, operating procedures, and business requirements.


Acting as the operational quality assurance layer between customs operations and AI technology, the role validates extracted data at a field level, identifies extraction errors and country-specific exceptions, and provides structured feedback to the central iCap-AI Product Team and Global Customs organization. This role is focused exclusively on functional testing and validation activities and does not include deployment, onboarding, hypercare, or country implementation responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities


Test Case Selection, Collection & Ingestion
  • Select and collect CW1 job documentation for countries within the active testing wave, ensuring representative coverage of document types, layouts, and image quality variations.
  • Prepare customs documentation according to established testing standards and validation guidelines.
  • Ingest test case documentation into iCap-AI and verify successful processing.
  • Monitor extraction runs, identifying processing failures, incomplete extractions, or stalled cases.
  • Maintain complete audit trails and records of all test cases, source documents, and validation outcomes.


Data Extraction Validation & Verification
  • Review source customs documentation and validate AI-extracted data at a field-by-field level.
  • Verify accuracy of extracted information across invoices, packing lists, transport documents, licenses, certificates, and other customs-related documentation.
  • Assess extraction results against:
    • Country-specific customs requirements
    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Global extraction prompts
    • Business rules and known exceptions
  • Validate extraction performance across different document layouts and image quality conditions.
  • Re-test extraction results following prompt improvements and confirm issue resolution.
  • Maintain auditable records of validation outcomes and supporting evidence.


Error Reporting & Feedback Management
  • Document field-level extraction defects, clearly identifying:
    • Expected value
    • Actual extracted value
    • Document type
    • Country impacted
    • Business impact
  • Identify country-specific requirements that may not be covered by existing global prompts.
  • Provide actionable, structured feedback to the iCap-AI Product, Engineering, and Global Customs teams.
  • Highlight recurring extraction patterns and systemic issues impacting model performance.
  • Support root-cause identification by supplying detailed validation evidence and exception examples.
Business Scenarios, Exceptions & Stakeholder Coordination
  • Identify, classify, and document special business scenarios and customs exceptions using the defined exception taxonomy.
  • Ensure consistent documentation of special cases for cross-country comparison and trend analysis.
  • Coordinate validation findings and testing outcomes with:
    • Project Manager, Smart Customs
    • Global Customs
    • iCap-AI Product & Engineering Teams
    • Country Customs Teams
  • Participate in testing reviews, operational meetings, and validation status discussions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of validation methodologies, checklists, and exception frameworks.

Skills and Competencies


Technical / functional

  • Knowledge of customs declaration processes and end-to-end customs clearance lifecycle.
  • Understanding of customs documentation including:
    • Commercial Invoices
    • Packing Lists
    • Bills of Lading
    • Air Waybills
    • Licenses and Permits
    • Certificates and Supporting Customs Documentation
  • Ability to independently determine whether extracted customs data complies with country-specific requirements.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in high-volume document review environments.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify extraction defects and anomalies.
  • Ability to compare source documentation against extracted datasets and determine data accuracy.
  • Experience maintaining auditable validation and testing records.
  • Understanding of functional testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), or quality validation methodologies.
  • Ability to work against structured test plans and validation procedures.
  • Experience documenting defects and supporting issue resolution processes.

Systems & Tools

  • Working knowledge of CW1 job structures and customs documentation workflows.
  • Comfortable working with:
    • OCR technologies
    • AI-driven document extraction tools
    • Workflow platforms
    • Testing and defect-tracking systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and data analysis tools.

Communication and collaboration

  • Strong written English skills with the ability to deliver concise and actionable defect reports.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across global and regional stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional coordination capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate complex customs-related findings to technical and non-technical audiences.

Education and Qualifications


Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, International Trade, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.

Professional certification (If applicable)

  • Professional certifications in Customs Compliance, International Trade, or Supply Chain Management are advantageous.

Experience

Minimum experience

  • 1-2 years of experience in:
    • Customs declaration processing
    • Trade compliance operations
    • Customs brokerage or clearance activities
    • Customs documentation review and validation
  • Experience working in a quality-controlled, SOP-driven operational environment.
  • Experience managing accuracy and turnaround-time-based performance metrics.
