Key Responsibilities

• Lead Active Ingredients formulation lab and supervise a team of 2 lab technician to develop new & innovative formulations and customized solutions for the region in line with the segment targets.

• In-depth understanding of formulating Active Ingredients into a wide range of different cosmetic products (Leave-on and rinse-off, face & body etc) and knowledge of different product forms/galenics (emulsions, water-based systems, solids, oils etc.)

• Developing concepts and prototypes.

• Knowledge on how delivery of Active ingredients can be improve by the used formulation

• Establish and maintain network within the Global Care Solution (CS) team for technical exchange, co-development and to foster innovation culture.

• Establish and maintain technical collaboration with the Global Segments

• Technical interface with customers, foster regular exchange to understand their unmet needs and deliver superior and consumer perceivable technical solutions.

• Provide technical and product trainings to team members, Sales colleagues/ Customers & Distributors. Support sales organization with troubleshooting customer technical challenges

• Represent Evonik in Industry seminars, exhibitions, tradeshows, fair, etc.

• Support marketing in regional competition & trends mapping, in generating market insights and research on recent innovations.

• Ensure development of the required infrastructure, competencies & capabilities at the center to deliver projects within the desired quality, quantity and timelines.

• Responsible for the safety in the lab including proper documentation status, ensure compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.

• Ensure proper utilization of resource through efficient prioritization of projects and workloads.

• Create an encouraging and motivating work culture for the team members.

• Lead, coach and develop the team member

Education & Experience Requirements

• M. Tech or Master’s degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry with minimum 8 years of experience in Application/ Technical Service lab of Personal Care specialty chemical company or FMCG

• Candidates having formulation experience with active ingredients will be preferred, ideally in one or more of listed areas ceramides, bioactives, botanicals, delivery systems.

• Excellent understanding of active ingredient chemistries, especially in designing of new formulations and application formats for personal care products.

Additional Skills & Abilities required for this position

• Experience in Stakeholder Management, Project Management and Cost Management.

• Ability to manage opportunity & risk in commercial & industrial applications; understand & connect implications to drive technical projects successfully.

• Ability to take decisions and convince stakeholders in a cross-cultural environment.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

• People Management Capabilities: experience in leading and mentoring teams.

• Willing to travel at least 30% of the time.

• Capable of making decision for his own team on day-to-day activities (related to smooth operation of labs, projects, etc).

• Influencing skills: Ability to convince & take decisions in a cross-cultural environment.

• Capable of proposing innovative solutions and solving Customer problems through technical support.

• Interfacing with Customer on day to day basis.
