**This position will be hybrid (3 days in office in Dallas, TX)**
Foot Locker is sekking a Systems Engineer who will contribute to a talented team of engineers who collectively demonstrate excellent technical competency, provide reliability in delivering mission critical infrastructure, and who continually ensure the highest levels of service availability, resource optimization, and customer focus. Qualified Systems Engineer applicants will have a strong background in IT, specifically in the areas of server/storage hardware/hyperconvergence, operating system deployment/maintenance/troubleshooting, private/public/hybrid cloud infrastructure, and process automation.
Responsibilities
- Implement, maintain, and support various technology areas such as server hardware, server operating systems, deployment pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and automation.
- Provide technical assistance in resolving immediate issues and pursue permanent solutions to address recurring problems.
- Participate in projects of medium to high complexity, including driving initiatives by setting and meeting milestones, managing tasks, and communicating statuses / updates to stakeholders.
- Assist in the development and the design of Foot Locker infrastructure, including hands-on design and collaboration with the Architecture team for enterprise-wide solutions.
- Author thorough documentation as well as update previously created documents.
- Efficiently manage tasks and workload; effectively balance pre-existing responsibilities with new initiatives as they develop.
- Participate in an on-call rotation that provides tiered escalation and reliable rapid responses to prioritized issues.
- Collaborate in proof-of-concept exercises to evaluate the best possible tools for the Infrastructure teams.
- Create and maintain positive working relationships with fellow team members, GTS customers, and leadership.
- Display effective verbal and written communication in a manner that contributes to a positive experience for all involved; present technical information to audiences of varying technical levels.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting of issues relating to various technology areas such as server hardware and operating systems, virtualization, hyperconvergence, cloud infrastructure, and automation.
- Adhere to the ITIL framework for change scheduling, design, and implementation.
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Business and/or equivalent minimum 3 years in IT leading to a System Administrator or Systems Engineer role.
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and their related ancillary services.
- Understanding of cloud-based platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or VMware Cloud Foundation preferred.
- Working knowledge of hardware- and software-based firewalls, load balancers, and network topologies.
- Experience working in organizations with well-defined ITSM processes and Change Control, preferably using ServiceNow but not required.
- Experience with pipeline automation for tasks like server deployment and retirement, patching, and configuration management using tools such as Ansible, Jenkins/Control-M, Terraform and Github preferred.
- Moderate scripting skills in common shells or languages such as PowerShell, bash, korn, python, or Ruby.
Nice to have:
- Experience with CentOS/ IBM AIX, or Windows Server / Desktop OSes.
- Exposure to enterprise-grade storage systems such as Data Domain, PowerMax, Equallogic, and Complellent arrays.
- Experience with Hypervisors and Hyperconvergence technologies such as VMWare, Nutanix, and PowerFlex.
- Familiarity with backup software such as Veeam and backup strategy best practices.
Benefits
The annual base salary range is $70,000 - $100,000. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Salary is one component of the Foot Locker, Inc. total compensation package, which includes the below.
