We are seeking a seasoned Sr. Director, Enterprise Data Architect to lead the strategic direction and implementation of our data architecture, which will enable enterprise domain APIs, analytics, AI/ML, and data governance. You will play a critical role in driving data-driven decision-making and maximizing the value of our information assets. Your role is more than a traditional Enterprise Architect. The successful candidate will design and execute sophisticated data strategies, in partnership with our Data Engineering and Governance teams, that not only ensure the integrity, availability, and privacy of our data but also optimize data flows and storage solutions to support comprehensive strategies and implementations of domain API, analytics, AI/ML, and data governance capabilities. By aligning data architecture and solutions with business objectives, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our data governance framework and supporting the development of capabilities that meet our business needs.


Responsibilities

Data & Enterprise Architecture

  • Partner with our Data Engineering and Governance teams to develop, champion, and implement comprehensive data strategies and related architectures that support domain-driven design principles in alignment with business and technology strategy, ensuring scalability, interoperability, and security.
  • Partner with our Data Engineering, Data Governance, and key stakeholders across the business to establish capabilities, solutions, and roadmaps for data governance, analytics, and AI/ML capabilities.
  • Partner with our Data Governance team and leaders to develop data ontologies, taxonomies, logical models, physical models, and aligned data solutions that are scalable, performant, and secure.
  • Partner with our Data Engineering and Governance teams to develop the architecture strategy, capabilities roadmaps, and solution roadmaps that support data governance strategies, policies, and practices, focusing on compliance, data privacy, and data management across its lifecycle.
  • Partner with our Data Engineering and Governance teams on strategy and implementation of a common platform of domain APIs that drive reuse, developer productivity, and reduce vendor lock-in.
  • Align data architecture and roadmaps with API strategies, roadmaps, and engineering teams to ensure consistency, reuse, and seamless data integration and management across APIs and associated domain models.
  • Provide expertise on data security practices, including data encryption, masking, and access control, to safeguard sensitive information accessed through APIs.
  • Partner with our Data Governance team and key stakeholders to establish instrumentation and tracking of essential data quality and governance metrics to report on the effectiveness of data governance initiatives.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and integrate data management tools and software to improve data quality, visibility, and governance across the enterprise.
  • Build and lead a small, high-performing team of data architects, fostering collaboration with our Data Engineering and Governance teams and a culture of data excellence.
  • Recommend and implement investments in modern data technologies and methodologies, including cloud data services, big data solutions, and data virtualization, to enhance API, data governance, analytics, and AI/ML.
  • Deeply understand our retail business, processes, customer problems, and desired outcomes to ensure alignment with Enterprise Architecture, seamlessly integrating with existing architecture to optimize the sneaker delivery experience.
  • Guide the team on best practices for building large-scale systems, emphasizing interoperability, performance, scalability, and resilience. Leverage cloud-based technologies to evaluate and choose the right tech stack for the platform.
  • Design, author, and review Enterprise Architecture standard artifacts, including guiding principles, capability models, roadmaps, standards, guardrails, patterns, landscapes, solution overviews, solution designs, and system designs.
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of our data portfolio, ensuring alignment with Enterprise Architecture, sneaker culture influences, and delivery of business outcomes and key results. Identify and mitigate business, operational, and financial risks throughout the portfolio lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise data architecture, focusing on designing data solutions for API-driven environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of domain-driven design, data modeling, and database technologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of analytics, AI, ML, and associated architectures and solutions.
  • Experience with API management platforms and designing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
  • Experience implementing data governance and quality frameworks in complex organizational settings.
  • Expertise in data security principles and compliance regulations affecting data accessed via APIs.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, strategic thinking, and the capability to lead cross-functional teams.

Benefits

The annual base salary range is $218000 - $250000 / year. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short and long term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Salary is one component of the Foot Locker, Inc. total compensation package, which includes the below.
