Foot Locker, Inc. is seeking a hands-on engineering leader with deep technical expertise to drive innovation in our Launch product team. In this role, you'll lead and mentor a dedicated group of engineers while actively contributing to the codebase—breaking ground on complex features, removing technical blockers, and setting best practices. You'll be pivotal in delivering hyperscale solutions that power sneaker drops, raffle entries, reservation workflows, and hype selling experiences across web and mobile, ensuring performance, fairness, reliability, and security under extreme concurrent traffic. Your leadership will directly influence customer satisfaction and revenue growth as you guide the team toward delivering world-class launch experiences.
Responsibilities
- Lead development efforts in building a robust launch reservation platform to support raffle entries, sneaker drops, and high-velocity sales at massive scale.
- Collaborate with product, operations, and design to refine concepts, estimate work, and prioritize features.
- Work with multiple teams to solve business problems while continuing to automate the development and release processes.
- Work across other technical teams to outline future systemrequirements, handle incident response and communication to ensure we meet business and engineering goals.
- Lead capacity planning, load testing, and performance optimization strategies for launch events.
- Ensure timely incident response and resolution for production issues, including leading triage efforts, and driving root cause analysis and preventative actions
- Provide availability and leadership support during critical Launch reservation events, ensuring system readiness, monitoring performance, and coordinating rapid response to any issues impacting the customer experience
- Ensure clear communication of team progress, risks, and outcomes to leadership and stakeholders
- Support resource planning and capacity management to align team output with business demand
- Manage and develop team members via code reviews, mentoring, and technical design sessions.
- Champion engineering best practices including test-driven development, code quality, and shift-left testing to deliver reliable software capabilities.
- Stay current with industry trends in high-scale systems, serverless architecture, and bot mitigation to identify opportunities for platform improvements.
- Maintain robust testing suites and deployment processes.
- Continuously improve engineering tools, workflows, and developer experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, Engineering or related field and 5 years of related work experience
- At least 2-3 years in an engineering team leadership/management role overseeing 5-10+ individuals, including direct reports
- Proven ability to deliver complex, customer-facing digital products or platforms across a multitude of delivery channels (i.e. web, mobile, mobile app, brick-and-mortar)
- Experience developing and maintaining critical real-time serving systems in an environment where priorities are frequently shifting.
- Proven ability to use monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Experience leading and growing people both technically and professionally.
- Great product sense combined with strong technical communication skills.
- Worked in a high-scale environment supporting core transactional flows of a major ecommerce establishment.
- Experience in Java, J2EE, Spring, Docker, Kubernetes.
- Experience with serverless technologies such as Azure Functions, AWS Lambda, or similar.
- Familiarity with load testing, capacity planning, and performance optimization for high-traffic systems.
- Experience with customer platforms, loyalty systems, and digital commerce ecosystems is preferred.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Quarterly travel may be required.

Benefits
The annual base salary range is $110000 - $135000 / year. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Salary is one component of the Foot Locker, Inc. total compensation package, which includes the below.
