Overview

The Director, Retail VM Footwear is responsible for translating the NA VM strategy and delivering an impactful merchandising plan that scales across different store and concept types to attract, inspire, and engage our consumers


Responsibilities

Core VM Gameplan

Winning Looks Like: Elevated merch plans that are clear, concise, and easily executable by field teams.

  • Translates and operationalizes the Brand vision and in-store strategy across different store types and concepts.
  • Partners closely with stakeholders to develop VM briefs designed to amplify key commercial seasons and product moments.
  • Oversee development and delivery of VM directives and communication in accordance with the marketing cadence, product deliveries, and relevant merchandise standards/fixtures/flow.
  • Lead planning and delivery of VM communication and directives in accordance with the marketing cadence, product deliveries, and relevant merchandise standards/fixtures/flow.
  • Support stakeholders to deliver Capital Plan activity (incl. store openings, closings, and remodels) and other brand events/projects (e.g., ASW and local marketing programs).
  • Inform and influence fixture and signage requirements which amplify storytelling, drive sell-through, and contribute to the overall look and feel of our stores.

Bespoke Merchandising & Storytelling

  • Works cross-functionally to lead development of vendor-supported campaigns which integrate seamlessly and elevate the core in-store experience.
  • Partners closely with stakeholders to oversee development of creative merchandising solutions (described in VM briefs) which drive energy and liquidation.
  • Oversee development and delivery of VM communication and directives in accordance with the marketing cadence, product deliveries, and relevant merchandise standards/fixtures/flow.
  • Lead planning and delivery of VM communication and directives in accordance with the marketing cadence, product deliveries, and relevant merchandise standards/fixtures/flow.

VM Innovation & Standards

Winning Looks Like: Continuous improvement of merchandising principles and capabilities.

  • Develop and scale distinct merchandising principles that drive productivity and create best-in-class VM experiences across all store types and concepts.
  • Proactively distills and shares feedback on SKU-level, inventory, graphic, and fixture opportunities into action.
  • Identifies best-practices and industry trends to drive continuous improvement and market-leading positioning.
  • Leverages data to move the discipline forward.

Collaboration, Process and Workflow

Winning Looks Like: Systematic and transparent delivery of several cross-functional projects and priorities simultaneously.

  • Oversee in-store print and/or digital and fixture requirements for in-store campaigns and initiatives, including distributions lists, specifications and/or dimensions, order quantities, budget forecasting etc.
  • Develop and drive cross-functional processes that create efficiency and end-to-end alignment.
  • Ensure seamless and timely flow of VM directions and information across the organization.
  • Cultivates high-level of engagement across commercial and field organizations.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • A deep understanding of visual merchandising and customer experience is required.
  • >7 years of related experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with design tools including Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Acrobat etc.,) Keynote, and Sketchup is required.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office 365 suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams) is required.
  • Familiarity using Apple Mac PC is desirable.
  • Design experience and/or knowledge of print production is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of photography is preferred.
  • Availability to travel a minimum of 25% time per month is required.
  • The ability to lift 30-40lbs is required.

Benefits

The annual base salary range is $120000 - $140000 / year. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Salary is one component of the Foot Locker, Inc. total compensation package, which includes the below.
