Overview

The Senior Manager of Controls Engineer provides leadership and direction for the overall health, reliability, and life cycle management for material handling equipment to support supply chain distribution operation. This critical position provides technical expertise and upkeep of equipment by identifying opportunities for cost savings and enhancements and partnering with other departments to successfully implement those changes.

This position will be a proactive leader in the ongoing development of internal and external strategic partnerships to successfully maintain and implement a culture of continuous improvement, develop innovative solutions to problems, and improve operational key performance indicators


Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide leadership and direction to drive overall building and equipment up-time.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical subject matter expertise of existing Foot Locker material handling systems and technology specifications to include varying types of package conveyors, sortation systems, and other specialty equipment (print and apply application, in-line scale and dimensioner, barcode/ RFID scanning, sorter, etc.).
  • Partner with the maintenance and operation teams to ensure preventative maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) activities are performed in a timely and high-quality manner.
  • Conduct regular training for the site team, PM quality audits, and system health walks.
  • Use diagnostic software and tools to collect data and monitor performance of systems. Analyze data to identify trends and recommend improvements to automated material handling systems.
  • Change management champion in the supply chain who develops relationships and brings all parties along in the process. Develop strategic partnership with our vendors / solution providers.
  • Maintain working knowledge of warehouse software solutions and infrastructure – including, but not limited to warehouse management systems, warehouse control systems, integrations, IP networks, etc.
  • Track and report stability metrics and overall key performance indicators.
  • Meet regularly with the operations and maintenance teams to communicate all on-going MHE related activities and to provide updates on current project work efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar field preferred or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a management position.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience working in maintenance with an emphasis on automated systems equipment operation including but not limited to: conveyer systems, automated sortation systems, print and apply application, in-line scale and dimensioner, barcode/ RFID scanning, automated guided vehicles, robotic delivery systems, PLC logic, WCS, and WMS.
  • Preferred experience with Panther promach print and apply applications, Datalogic scanner systems, Cognex scanner systems, Beckhoff hardware and PLCs, Allen Bradley hardware and PLCs, VFDs and electrical troubleshooting, MDR (motor driven rollers), Hytrol & Intelligrated (conveyor, sliding shoe sorters), Beumer tilt tray sorters, Fortna WES, Trew/TKO WES, and Manhattan WMS.
  • Knowledge of algorithm design and programming logic Network systems and TCP/IP protocol. Understanding of network messaging formats
  • Familiarity with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action (CA) methodologies. Demonstrated ability to own projects, think big and influence across all levels of an organization through structured thinking to solve problems and improve operational outcomes by implementing long term solutions.
  • Ability to install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain mechanical systems and electrical equipment.
  • Understanding of standard operating procedures, engineering documentation, equipment specifications, schematics, and electrical diagrams.
  • Need to operate with sound reasoning and judgement with strong attention to detail coupled with a high level of resourcefulness.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and ability to think outside the box. Knowledge of the concepts of Lean and Continuous Improvement.

Benefits

The annual base salary range is $90,00 - $150,000 / year. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
