What You´ll Do

  • The Environmental Specialist is responsible for all aspects of Environmental and Sustainability for the St. Louise plant.
  • Environmental Specialist is the leader and point of contact for internal, external, regulatory audits.
  • Report Environmental statistics data to Global SHE on monthly basis
  • Prepare and manage the related documents about the environment in accordance with Henkel global regulations, local regulations and laws.
  • Prepare and send quarterly wastewater reports to MSD.
  • Monitor and ensure permit limits are maintained.
  • Implement the work environment measurement, the self-inspection of air emission and wastewater discharge facilities and the emergency training.
  • Secure SDS (MSDS) for chemicals used in the laboratory, ensure the appropriateness of chemical storages, and understand and manage information related to the health, safety, and environment.
  • Investigate environmental accidents/incidents using participative root cause analysis techniques and develop appropriate responses to prevent recurrence.
  • Achieve full compliance with regulatory and Henkel Environmental standards by directly supporting facility staff with policies, procedures, work instructions and training.
  • Oversight of Process Safety Management (PSM) management program
  • Leverages environmental best practices and manages all related regulatory and compliance issues.
  • Acts as Site “Dangerous Goods/Chemicals” Safety Advisor (DGSA)
  • Responsible for sustainability roadmap to drive Energy, Water and Waste improvement

What makes you a good fit

  • Must possess a working knowledge of regulatory requirements (i.e. OSHA), SHE Program Management (Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Environmental), Risk Management, Behavior-Based Safety, EPA, RCRA (Hazardous Waste Management) DOT (Hazmat Ground shipping), Training, and Auditing.
  • Ability to persevere in times of crisis and handle adverse circumstances effectively.
  • Working knowledge of Quality fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement through use of applicable tools and theories such as process mapping
  • Safety / Environmental certifications preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Business Administration, Environmental Science, or other related discipline with 5-7 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Information Management/Computer Skills - has solid knowledge in the use and features of the suite of Microsoft packages (especially Access and Excel).
  • Can work with integrated databases and generate neatly formatted numerical and graphical reports.
  • Able to communicate (verbal and written) clearly, accurately and effectively in formal and informal settings.
  • Listens well in one-on-one and group settings.
  • Realizes when information needs to be communicated to appropriate parties.
  • Knows how to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with managers and employees at all levels.
  • Able to participate on team projects by contributing ideas that add value and completing team assignments.
  • Is able to give and receive feedback constructively and modify behavior accordingly.
  • Able to set goals on projects in collaboration with others.
  • Remains organized while conducting various activities and coordinates own work efforts to stay on schedule.

The salary range for this role is $100,000.00. This range represents the good‑faith minimum and maximum wages the Company reasonably expects to offer for this role at the time of posting. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for incentive pay or other forms of compensation, as applicable. The Company also offers a comprehensive benefits package as described above. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as the candidate’s skills, experience, education, training, and work location.
