Total Rewards Manager, Japan

Henkel is looking for a Total Rewards Manager to lead and strengthen compensation, benefits and rewards practices in Japan.

This role will shape competitive, compliant and locally relevant rewards programmes that help Henkel attract, retain and engage talent. You will work closely with Country HR, HRBPs, business leaders, regional Centres of Expertise and external vendors.

What you will do

  • Lead the design, implementation and communication of Total Rewards programmes in Japan.
  • Ensure rewards programmes reflect Japan market conditions while aligning with global strategy.
  • Partner with Regional COE, Country HR, HRBPs and GBS+ on rewards priorities, implementation and feedback.
  • Lead market data gathering, compensation surveys and benchmarking activities.
  • Turn rewards data and market insights into clear recommendations and actions.
  • Advise on Japan-specific rewards regulations, labour law requirements and internal governance.
  • Manage Total Rewards vendors, including selection, performance and cost budgeting.
  • Lead rewards-related projects and continuous improvement work.

What you bring

  • At least 5 years of experience in Total Rewards, Compensation and Benefits, compensation, job evaluation or related areas.
  • Strong understanding of the Japan rewards market.
  • Experience in a multinational or global organisation.
  • Good knowledge of compensation cycles, salary reviews, bonus planning, benefits and benchmarking.
  • Strong analytical skills and confidence working with data.
  • Ability to influence and work effectively with senior HR and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently in a matrix environment.
  • Business-level Japanese and English across speaking, writing and reading.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in HR, Business or a related field.

  • Regional Total Rewards or Compensation and Benefits experience.
  • Japan and Korea rewards exposure.
  • Job grading or job evaluation methodology.
  • Sales incentive or incentive plan experience.
  • Benefits vendor management.
  • Workday or SuccessFactors exposure.
  • Rewards consulting background.
