Our customer-owned VPC deployment model simplifies the deployment, management and integration of Presto and enables cloud and data platform teams to provide secure, self-service SQL analytics for their organization’s analysts and scientists.

Your Role and Responsibilities
watsonx.data is on a mission to simplify interactive analytics using Presto as well as foster growth and evangelize the PrestoDB community. Our customer-owned VPC deployment model simplifies the deployment, management and integration of Presto and enables cloud and data platform teams to provide secure, self-service SQL analytics for their organization’s analysts and scientists.
Our platform engineering team is dedicated to wowing our customers with UX that simplifies a very complex problem. We are committed to rapidly deploying new features while maintaining a high standard of code quality. Each developer is an owner and accountable for the full delivery cycle of features, from collaborating with product managers to implementation to deploying to production. We value cross-expertise collaboration and problem solving, and strive to always be learning.
As a senior member of the Full Stack team, you will work closely with product management, UX designers and other development teams to design, plan, and deliver new features and enhance existing behavior for the user-facing parts of our platform (both UI and API). You will leverage your prior experience with microservices and event-driven architecture to propose and implement enhancements to our current system to ensure the reliability our customers expect.
Responsibilities:
– Design and deliver new features, collaborating with product management, UX designers and other development teams.
– Extend our Node.js REST API to support new features and integrations to connect the web frontend with backend services.
– Develop and maintain our React web application, working with product managers and design experts to deliver an intuitive Ahana experience.
– Collaborate with other developers to extend our cloud infrastructure and our customers’ cloud deployments to provide users a seamless PrestoDB working environment.
– Mentor other developers through code reviews and peer programming sessions.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
– 8+ years as a Senior Software Engineer
– Designed, implemented, and maintained messaged based microservice architecture
– Expert level experience in Javascript and Node, especially with Promises and async/await
– Expert level experience in React and Redux
– Proficient with SQL and data modeling
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
– Cloud-native software architecture experience
– Kubernetes
– PrestoDB, Trino, Dremio
