Job Description
We are seeking a technically strong and dynamic Senior IT Application Engineer to join our team supporting patent and information management solutions. This unique role combines the responsibilities of business analysis and technical application support and administration. As a member of the team, you will be pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation and continuous improvement of key IT systems supporting our intellectual property processes.
This role requires close collaboration with business users to understand and meet their needs, as well as hands-on involvement in managing projects and evaluating new software solutions. In your new role you will:

• Provide technical and functional support for patent management systems and related applications including analysis and troubleshooting and resolving system issues, ensuring high levels of availability and performance
• Act as application owner, translating business needs into technical requirements and collaborate with software vendors or development teams to deliver solutions
• Manage or contribute to IT projects, such as system upgrades, new feature rollouts, or process automation initiatives
• Develop scripts and automate tasks to optimize performance of databases, web services and integration software
• Explore new solutions such as AI and evaluate new software solutions to stay updated on emerging technologies and proactively propose improvements

Your Profile

With a sharp sense for current trends, you proactively identify and implement potential enhancements. Your efforts are concentrated on finding solutions that add value, and you are dedicated to recognizing and capitalizing on opportunities to boost efficiency.

You are best equipped for this task if you have:

• A university degree in Informatics, Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a related field
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in IT business or technical consulting in an enterprise environment. Knowledge and experiences in Patent Solutions e.g. Clarivate Unycom or Intellectual Property processes is a plus
• Very good understanding of systems, user and functional requirements
• Strong technical skills in Oracle and MS SQL and various Linux/Unix infrastructure (e.g., Red Hat, Solaris) Windows Server
• Proficiency in managing web application servers such as Apache Tomcat, JSON
• Knowledge in software development with web technologies (e.g. javascript)
• Experience with software testing and technical evaluation of applications (on-prem and cloud)
• Strong communication, training and project coordination skills
• Fluent English language skills, basic German language skills are a plus
