We are looking for a motivated intern to bridge the gap between our raw system data and proactive insights. Your primary mission will be to implement Machine Learning-driven anomaly detection within our ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) stack. You will focus specifically on our Integration Layer (APIs, Middleware, and Data Buses) to identify "unknown unknowns" that traditional static alerts miss.

Your Role

Key responsibilities in your new role

• Data Prep & Ingestion: Review and optimize Logstash pipelines or Elastic Agents to ensure high-quality, timestamped data is flowing from the integration layer into Elasticsearch.
• Anomaly Detection Setup: Configure and deploy Single-metric and Multi-metric ML jobs to establish baselines for transaction volumes, latencies, and error rates.
• Model Tuning: Analyze Anomaly Scores and "Influencer" fields to tune jobs, reducing false positives caused by scheduled maintenance or expected spikes.
• Proactive Alerting: Integrate ML job results with Kibana alerting to notify the team when the system deviates from its predicted baseline.
• Dashboards & Visualization: Use the Anomaly Explorer and Kibana Lens to create intuitive dashboards that visualize system health trends for the integration team.
  
  

Internship Learning Outcomes:

• Ability to configure the Elastic Stack (ELK) to ingest massive streams of middleware logs and API telemetry.
• Learning to select and tune Anomaly Detection jobs in ELK via the Machine learning component.
• Designing dashboards in Kibana that don't just show charts, but tell a story about system health.

• Technical Background: Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
• Foundational Knowledge: Familiarity with general observability concepts (Logs, Metrics, Traces).
• Analytical Mindset: Basic understanding of statistics and unsupervised machine learning.
• Scripting Skills: Basic proficiency in Python.
