Your Role

Key responsibilities in your new role

  • Software Architectural Design: Assist in defining the static and dynamic aspects of switch firmware modules, ensuring that Software Requirements are correctly addressed
  • Software Detailed Design: Create low-level designs for switch logic using Unified Modeling Language (UML) to describe component behavior and interfaces
  • Prototyping: Writing "Proof of Concept" (PoC) code to validate that the proposed design works on the target hardware
  • Unit Test Development: Designing test cases that exercise the logic of your firmware modules in isolation, often using hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) or simulation
  • Code Review Participation: Reviewing peer code to ensure it adheres to the established design specifications and coding standards (like MISRA C)

Your Profile

Qualifications And Skills To Help You Succeed

  • Education: Enrolled in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technologies or similar
  • Programming skills: Proficiency with programming skills (C/C++, Python), specifically for embedded systems and debugging tools
  • Previous experiences: Background knowledge of Firmware Engineering and programming, as well as ethernet technologies/protocols and Real time OS / OS internals
  • Way of Working: Affinity for programming related with Firmware, paired with great interest for coding practices
  • Languages: Fluency in English. German as a plus

Important information:

  • Working part-time: The focus is on studies. That’s why working as a student employee during lecture period is limited to a maximum of 20 hours per week.
  • Proper students (according to the German law) are welcome: To work as a student employee with us, you must be enrolled at a university and not have completed all of your exams or modules for your degree programme. You must not be in a semester of leave. We look forward to welcoming you to our team for at least 6 months.
  • You should live close to the site: For good collaboration, it is important to us that you can come to the office regularly to integrate to the team.
