What’s the role?
The Staff Systems Engineer models, simulates, designs, tests, qualifies, troubleshoots and optimizes various subsystems of X-ray microscopes. Works with all other Engineering functions, Manufacturing and Marketing on the successful system integration and implementation.
The Staff Systems Engineer will expedite the design, specification and validation of systems and subsystems; develop algorithms; create mathematical models, perform and analyze system simulations; contribute to overall system architecture/design.

Here’s what you’ll do:
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: (Responsibilities that are central to the job and MUST be performed either unaided, or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation)
Provide direction and leadership in system architecture and design.
Provide direction and leadership in the definition, implementation, verification and validation of algorithms.
Work with Marketing and other Mechanical, Electrical and Software engineers to define, analyze, detail, and document specifications for tradeoffs, performance, features, controls, and operation of products into a form suitable for product implementation.
Contribute to the subsystem designs as required.
Lead system integration of the specialist areas of a product.
Plan and conduct in-depth reviews, testing and verifications/validation of product features.
Critically analyze and verify system performance through simulation, test, and measurements.
Specify and develop improvements or enhancements to existing products and champion implementation if necessary.
Document test plans and review mfg and technical support documentation for accuracy.
Provide technical consultation for the rest of the organization, especially, manufacturing, technical support and field service as required.
Manage medium size projects without supervision.

Do you qualify?
Experience and Education Requirements:
Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or Computer Sciences, with 10 years of experience, or Ph.D. with 5 years of relevant experience. “Generalists” are preferred over “Specialists”.
Knowledge of or prior work experience in one or more of the following subject areas would be helpful: electronic instruments, data acquisition and analysis, imaging or non-imaging optics, image processing, machine vision systems, modeling and simulation tools (MATLAB, Mathematica), embedded systems, computer languages (Python, C#, C/C++)
Experience using or designing X-ray sources, Detectors, tomography systems preferred.
Fluency in English is required, including technical terms. Ability to work with and understand the work product of team members from all R&D-related departments, as well as Manufacturing and Marketing. Exceptional communication skills to resolve technical challenges between mechanical, electrical and software engineering, advanced development, manufacturing and marketing.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to the weather conditions prevalent at the time. Also, the employee will be exposed to the conditions in the production area and test areas. The noise level in the work area is usually moderate to extreme.
The annual pay range for this position is $161,000 – $201,000
The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.
